Wyoming Passes Permitless Constitutional Carry
Wyoming did what Texas hasn't....again. Check it out.: http://www.nraila.org/Legislation/Read.aspx?ID=6323" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;
It would appear that the good law abiding citizens of Wyoming do not have to pay big buckaroo$ to exercise their RKBA rights. Will Texas give up this ca$h cow? HAR de HAR!
If you were wonderin about "again", women were allowed the vote in Wyoming in 1869.

Good for Wyoming. Constitutional carry really seems to be gaining momentum; I'm surprised there hasn't at least been a bill introduced in Texas.Oldgringo wrote:Wyoming did what Texas hasn't....again. Wyoming was actually very close to doing this 3 or 4 years ago, then some LEO group came out against it, and that killed it. Glad to see that didn't happen again.

Idaho filed a bill this week.
A google search on "Permitless Carry" (or others- open, constitutional, etc. ) shows several States very active on changes.
Texas cash cow indeed! Drop the fee to $10.00 for EVERYONE and watch the paperwork go way down, fast, AND the number of CHL Texans go above 1 million fast!
($0 to $140 fee, depending on who you are, REALLY IS WRONG.)

Re: Wyoming Passes Permitless Constitutional Carry
We in Texas have been able to promote some very difficult bills into law because of the success of the CHL program. There have been very few problems and CHL holders and instructors have done an incredible job of selling the fact that armed Texans are safe and more responsible than the rest of the citizenry.
Pealing back restrictions on carrying in places like churches and government properties have been accomplished because of our sterling record. It looks promising that we will get the Parking Lot, and Campus Carry, The biggest argument we have for the fencesitters is that we have an outstanding record.
There is a lot at stake with the CHL program It is a pretty good sized state program, and there are lots of people supplementing their income with the program as instructors. There are some CHL holders that believe licensing and restricting this right is a good thing. We CHL holders may be the source of most resistance in unlicensed carry.
THE CHL program and its success is instrumental in reducing the places where we are restricted to carry. We probably want to go as far as we can with this before we push for constitutional carry.

...amazing the progress that's been made here...baby steps are better than bustin' yer bohunkus!!!
Re: Wyoming Passes Permitless Constitutional Carry
As much as I'd love Constitutional Carry, we're in a different situation that states like Wyoming. Despite being a "red state", there is still large urban population centers with plenty of antis and large suburban population centers which are probably neutral at best (mostly apathetic, I'd say). Therefore, taking small steps and proving with each one that Texas isn't going to turn into a scene from Mad Max is probably the most effective rout. Then, as Liberty said, we can keep pushing towards Constitutional Carry and tell the detractors that their predictions of doom and gloom have never once come to fruition. Not with CHL, not with parking lots, not with campus carry, and so the same for Constitutional as well. Anyone arguing against that would look the fool (granted, they already do).

Great news!!
And every state that goes to Constitutional Carry is great. Just more ammo for us. Well, this state and this state don't have background checks, classes or fees and no one goes nuts just provides us a stronger argument when we finally push for it.

This is good news. You've got to love the West.
I despise the East.
It is still hard for me to believe some times that gun rights continue to be expanded. Or should I say, unconstitutional restrictions continue to be struck down.
It's like a great dream that just keeps getting better.

Only 2 states have always had constitutional carry.PappaGun wrote:This is good news. You've got to love the West.

Vermont and Alaska. Probably for different reasons. Alaska because fire arms is a way life. Vermont because most Vermonters believe in the bill of rights. Some of the East has reasonable gun laws. Virginia, Georgia, New Hampshire, Vermont, and Florida. While some on the West is terrrible particularly California and Nevada. The East coast isn't Massachusetts and New York, and The West isn't all Arizona and Idaho

Still has to pass the Governor's desk. Not sure what his stance is on it. Hopefully he won't veto it.

Wyoming doesn't have the ridiculous population centers TX has grown to have. WY doesn't have the I-35 corridor and sure as heck doesn't have the greater HOU area.

I don't know...Vermont is the Bluest of the Blue states. They have a Socialist (yes...REALLY) senator. I think their (lack of) gun laws are an accident of history. My guess is most of their residents would vote to secede and join Canada if they could.Liberty wrote:Only 2 states have always had constitutional carry.PappaGun wrote:This is good news. Nevada, other than their crappy reciprocity has much more open laws than Texas. Permitless open carry, permitless car carry. Trespass law must be enforced by a verbal warning and a refusal to leave (signs don't cut it). Shall issue concealed permits. Complete pre-emption as of 2007. Only exception is someone residing in Clark County (Las Vegas) for over 60 days, must register pistols owned.
Alaska didn't always have Constitutional carry, they had concealed permits. They still do, but only for reciprocity/GFSZA...In VT there is no (Federally) legal carry in school zones.
PA is way more permissive than Texas. Open carry. Shall issue. $20 permit. No training. No restrictions on bars. No "signs" recognized for criminal trespass, and even if they were it's an "infraction" equivalent to a "stop light" violation.
