LOTS of questions......

Post by kindaconfused »

I have read until my eyes bled & then decided to start my online app. Well, it's all screwed up I think.

1)I thought when I chose save until later on the criminal history part, it would let me fill out the rest of the app & just come back to the crim. hist. section & complete it when I got the info I needed. Well, now it seems it is keeping the answer of 'NO' criminal history & I need to change it. How do I change it?

2) I got a DWI about 15 years ago but don't remember the year, much less the day. Do I HAVE to give a date?

3) Can I get my criminal hist. certified copy from the DPS website where you can search public info.? Is this a good enough copy & the info. they are wanting?

4) When the DPS CHL site sent me to the LS-1 site, it said LS-1 were doing fingerprints for a CHL. It also said a state, FBI & Federal background check. I chose the button to change that because all I'm getting from them is the fingerpints. It then sent me to a different page, did something weird, then sent me back to the prior page as before but now said N/A on ALL the options. Am I scheduled for CHL fingerprints or not?

I don't understand why it can't be more cut & dry. I'm in need of some serious help on this. Thanks.

I can't answer everything because it was all Paper, not online when I got mine but

3) Can I get my criminal hist. certified copy from the DPS website where you can search public info.? Is this a good enough copy & the info. they are wanting?

I got that, it "helped" but they'll want records from the County Clerk/District clerk anyway showing disposition.

(I got taken to the police station in 1965 or so for carrying a BB gun that looked real, my parents were called, they came and got me, no charges filed, the DPS wanted info on "possible Unlawful Carrying Weapon" 1965 and I got a "certificate of no records" from a County and District clerk, faxed it in, then they approved it.

SOME COUNTY CLERKS have database searches ONLINE and you can print it and send it along. I think I had to charge one dollar on my credit card, and I printed it and they also mailed me a signed, certified copy, varies by county.

I didn't remember the date, nor exact year of the two times I got to "visit" a police station, over 30 years ago, I estimated as best as I could, once was an "overnight stay" I think I put 1965 or 1966 for one, and 1972 or 1973, for the other one. I ordered history from county and district clerks in that County, they came up "no records" I sent that to DPS, the DPS sent my CHL. ... I did hit a "snag" having a common name, 8 other people in the county had my name, one had a record, court documents didn't list his middle name, and DPS had to research that it wasn't me (age difference, race, and other things)

Others will be along to help on other stuff.

Awwwwe

Well, my overnight stay in the hoosegow about 1973 or so I got handcuffed and booked, photographed, fingerprinted, put in a cell ... and all that, but It was another guy in the car, not myself that did something so I was released later, no charges filed, or if they were, they were dropped. Nothing else happened they let me go, Clerk has "no record" of it now at all. I stayed away from the guilty guy. Birds of a feather flock together and he was someone my girlfriend knew that we caught a ride with from a wedding reception, not someone I hung out with..... I changed girlfriends too.

The "funny" (but scary) part was I had to hold the handcuffs on because they kept falling off, so I waited until we were in the elevator at Houston's jail downtown before asking if I could take them off and the officers were  :eek6 and I explained that my nose itched and had been holding them on for an hour already but didn't think I'd get shot taking them off inside the elevator, I mean I had no place to run ... they laughed and told me to just keep holding them on, so, as an instruction following, law abiding citizen, I did.
(They kept slipping off my arm, I have no left hand)

I doubt it. DPS can easily do that search.

From what I hear, what DPS wants is the applicant to do the leg work for the background check. Contact the counties and get the paperwork for the disposition of the charges or arrest. If there's no record of the arrest, get the clerk to put that in writing. By having the applicant do most of the work, Texas only charges 2-3 times what other states charge for their concealed handgun licenses and associated background checks.

IDK but I doubt it. You can call and ask or make a new appointment. From what I hear about that vendor, I think the second option is probably easier. https://tx.ibtfingerprint.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Well I re-did the fingerprint appt. cause it showed no record of me ever doing it. I've decided, 1 day soon, I will just go to the city & the Co.(Tarrant Co.) & get whatever certified paperwork they have on me. BUT, I still need to change the criminal background part on my online app. but, from what I've read, the only thing you can change on your online app. is your address :rules: . Is this correct? I didn't have time today to call but I will tomorrow.

Today is the Second Tuesday of the month.

University of Texas at Arlington Student Paper site is down too.

(Second Tuesday of every month Microsoft releases "Windows Update" ... lots of interesting things occur online on ... the Second Tuesday of the month, ....even if a server is Linux based ... there are links in a chain ...)
