Login option: Keep me logged in for today?
I was wondering if it might be possible to have another option at login. Right now, I can have it "Login automatically every time I connect" (or some such verbiage), which I would guess equates to "permanently remember my password", or I can not have it remember my login, and if I go more than some as-yet-undetermined period with no activity (somewhere around an hour?) it will log me out and I have to relog in the next time I want to browse/comment.
What I would love is an option to keep me logged in for the day. That way I don't have to keep logging in every time I turn around, but I still get a frequent refresher on what my password is (otherwise I know without a doubt I will forget what my password is).
Is this possible? Would anyone other than me like to see this?

I have selected to be kept logged in and whenever I select the link for this forum from this computer I do not have to login. Even after completely shutting down I still don't have to login. Is there some reason you would like it to log you out after a period of inactivity?

Ideally I would like to stay logged in for 24 hours, but not longer. After that, I want to have to enter my password so that I remember what my password is for this forum. If I don't do that, and then I try using another computer (or maybe I have to reinstall my operating system, or some other something happens where I for some reason am required to login again), I'll be unable to get in because I will have forgotten my password if I don't have to enter it regularly.C-dub wrote:I have selected to be kept logged in and whenever I select the link for this forum from this computer I do not have to login. Right now, I have the option of either I "forget my password for the forum because I never enter it any more" (the way you have it set currently if I understand correctly) or I have to "enter my password every hour" because I don't want to have it remembered forever, so the forum forgets it incredibly quickly. Re-entering my password all the time does get old. Hence my thought that an in-between option would be awesome.

Hmmm. Come to think of it ... what is my password? I see your point.

Sorry, but that's not an option with the software.

Ok. Thanks for checking. I will just continue entering my password and be happy. (Oh, the humanity!Charles L. Cotton wrote:Sorry, but that's not an option with the software.

Maybe, if I wanted to lose my cookies. (Note I did not say toss my cookies!)cbr600 wrote:Would it work if you select the login automatically option but then clear your cookies (making it "forget") when you close your browser?
Thanks for the suggestion, but I think I value keeping my other cookies around more than I do the idea of less typing. It's all good. I was just trying to be a little lazy. The typing won't kill me, honest.

Use CCleaner to clear cache and cookies etc, but uncheck saved passwords, and it remembers username and password,
Then if you want to, you can check the "keep me logged in" on the site itself .... or not
It will "keep you logged in, until you use CCleaner again, but even after using CCleaner, your info is still remembered, so just log in or check it, either way is easy.
If you want it to FORGET username and passwords, check the boxes
(Free CCleaner, using Firefox browser)

You can logout with one click at the end of the day.

Thank you for pointing out the painfully obvious. D'oh!
Now I feel really kinda stupid.
