Today's cop-on-cop shooting...

Post by ELB »

Summary: Two Florida Highway Patrol firearms instructors, a supervisor and a trooper, are inspecting firearms at a police facility. Supervisor launches a round and hits trooper in the butt.

Non-life threatening wound. Bet it does not improve their working relationship, though.

Wow, talk about multiple rules violations. I think that Rules 1, 2, and 3 would all have to be broken for that to occur--assuming a gun isn't loaded (all too common during weapons inspections), letting the muzzle cover something you aren't willing to destroy (obviously violated unless it was an "accident" rather than an accident), keep your finger off the trigger until you're ready to fire (unless this was an extremely rare occurence of mechanical failure). The 4th rule of course is know your target and what is beyond.

If you violate one of the rules (we're all fallible) the others usually make sure it isn't a serious incident. If two or more are broken, bad things are likely to happen.

I lived in Florida for 12 years. If anything strange, stupid happens in the world, there's a FLA connection.

And if it happens in FL, it's even freakier. If that's even a word.

Headline:
FHP firearms instructor accidentally shot during gun inspection
Wait a minute!

Shouldn't the headline read something more like:

FHP firearms instructor shot...due to negligence on the part of Insert Name.

"Accident" :roll:

These people should certainly know better. An instructor? Take his guns away for a month and sic the trooper on him.

There will have to be some heavy discipline over this stupidity.

I'm sorry but I got halfway through the article and the page separator had a link right in the middle of it:

"Watch this now. Cross-dressers fight at taco shop"

I mean how can you possibly pass on that link. I mean a link like that practically clicks itself.

I can pass on that link quite easily.

They do tend to lead the nation in pro-gun legislation though--first modern shall-issue law, first parking lot storage law, etc.

I'm with you on that Hirundo. Very pro-gun. They just always seem to be in the middle of the craziness there, sometimes.
