New BUG/Truck gun

i've been wanting a snub nose .38 special revolver for a while now, found a good deal on a Charter Arms Undercover at Tomball Pawn this weekend (the photo below is just one i found online, haven't taken a pic of the gun yet). it feels pretty good in my hand and fits easily into my front pocket, now i just need to find a couple holsters for it. anyone have any recommendations on a good pocket holster for this gun? my primary carry weapon is an M&P 40c but i do plan on getting an IWB holster for this revolver too.

Ya might want to look at the Desantis Nemisis. I have ordered online or picked up at Cabellas for as little as $20.

I will second what Greyberd said about the Nemesis. Not only is it a good expensive pocket holster but I am able to carry my snubbie IWB at abut 3:30 all day without the thing moving. May not work for everyone, but it works for me. Can and do carry my G27 in the same manner with no problem.

thanks everyone for the replies. i like the way the nemesis looks, and given that it's less than half the price of the Galco i may give it a try first. for the time being i just have a cheapo Uncle Mike's holster, mainly for the purpose of protecting the gun while it's in my truck and preventing me from hooking my finger around the trigger when i'm grabbing it. i have no intention of using the uncle mike's for carrying the gun though, to me it feels like little more than a gun sock.

i'll be ordering the nemesis this evening and will give it a try first, it appears that it's pretty universal for most snub nose revolvers. i may end up heading to the Tandy Leather store down the road and trying my hand at making a holster too. my sister does some leather work so i'll have to talk her into helping me out.

If you haven't already committed, you may want to try the Fist Pocket Holster. It has a tab you press with your thumb during the draw to make sure gun and holster separate in your pocket. This doesn't always happen with holsters that don't have that feature.

I have this holster and it works better than anything else I've ever tried for pocket carry.

BTW, I have a #10 Shortcut holster on order from them for my J-Frame.

i like the look of that... i may give it a couple more days before i place an order, give me some time to compare some stuff i'm coming across as i search further. my uncle mike's "gun sock" is serving its intended purpose for the time being, and i normally find myself carrying my M&P 40c anyway, but would like to have a few CC options for the snubbie as well.

My Colt will be my BUG until I get MUCH better with the speed strips. I want to take her to a defensive pistol class, but need to make me some extra speed strips out of vacuum belt. I think I am slower loading the strips than I am the cylinder

I think I have become revolver challenged in my old age, but she sure is fun to shoot! Just got new grips for my Model 10 at the last Conroe show, can't wait to take her out either! She will become my "home defense friend".

i wonder if the grips on the charter snubbie can be swapped out. i like the way they feel, but i've found that the rubber grips tend to not want to slide out of my pocket very easily. another revolver i was looking at was a taurus with wood grips and it slid in and out much easier, but it was used and beat up a bit so i went with the charter.

finally got to put some rounds through it this afternoon, i shot a few rounds of Monarch that i picked up at Academy, also found an OLD stash of .38 special at my parents' house, my dad told me it was probably 20 or more years ago when he bought them. i shot about 20 rounds of those with 2 FTFs, although those rounds did fire the 2nd time i pulled the trigger on them.

this was the first time i've shot a .38 special and i'll have to admit it has a bit more kick than i expected. i'm now kinda glad i didn't go with a .357 magnum as i had originally planned. i have a feeling the .38 sp will be plenty adequate for self defense purposes if the need arises.

my first impressions are that, despite the kick and short grip, i really like the way this gun feels. i was shooting into the opposite bank of a small creek so i didn't have paper targets to gauge my accuracy, but at about 25 feet i had no problem consistently hitting the small area i was aiming at. i expect that if i have to use this gun for self defense purposes it will be at close range, so despite the short barrel i don't have any real concerns about accuracy. i did have to concentrate extra hard on keeping the gun steady while firing it, it has quite a long and heavy trigger pull compared to my M&P and it's easy to inadvertently jerk the gun downwards a tad while pulling the trigger.
