Winchester USA .45 ACP Ammunition
Does anyone have any opinions on Winchester USA? I have shot quite a bit of it over the years and I always thought it was OK. Today I went through just under 100 rds. at the range and everything was pretty black and filthy. Maybe I just never shot that much of it at one time before. Some of it was 230gr. JHP and I planned to take it on trips for back up but now I don't know.

If it goes BANG every time there's no practical issue with smoky ammo that deposits a carbon film on all it touches. It just requires a few more minutes to get the gun clean afterwards.danpaw wrote:Does anyone have any opinions on Winchester USA? The cleaner powders are usually found in self defense ammo. Low residue is nice for sure, but considering the hit this pricey fodder puts on the budget, I'll happily continue to shoot the Win USA or Wolf stuff for range practice.

Yeah, it's OK for the range I guess, I probably will just stop taking it for back up defense ammo. Walmarts prices are good but their variety ain't all that great most of the time.

There was a change in the Winchester USA in that both the 50ct and 100ct are no longer made in the USA.
IIRC, the 50ct (or maybe the 100ct) is now made in Serbia.
If you still have the boxes, it might bear looking.
