Federal Champion .40 180gr FMJ ammo

Post by texanron »

Looking for opinions on this ammo as a target practice round. I got a line on 500 rounds of this for $120.

Thats my personal favorite practice round. Cheap, clean and consistent.

Never had a problem with it in my Glocks. Then again never had a problem with anything but Blazer aluminum in my Glocks.

It's relatively inexpensive, accurate, clean, and goes bang every time. Again what's not to like?

I used to use the federal all the time in my M&P 40, and my walther PPS. I have since switched to Winchester White Box, because it is about 5 bucks cheaper when you buy the 100 round value box.

Edit: I switched because wal-mart rose ammo prices, and now the WWB is cheaper.

Thanks for the information fellas! I ordered the Federal ammo. Where do y'all typically find this ammo at? I've seen it at Wal-Mart for about $15 for 50 rounds.

Are you getting the 100 round WWB for about $28 before taxes?

So now that you ordered it... how about sharing??

Where'd ya buy it for that price? Sub-$0.25/round is darn good.

I bought it through an auction site from an individual who sold his .40 and had no use for the ammo. I'm fairly cetain it was a one time deal.

Ammoman has Federal 180gn and 165gn for $300/1000rds shipped. That's $15/box.

Usually Wally World is below $.30/round for a decent practice round.. I'd buy bulk if I could get down near $0.25/round..

This is a good place to keep an eye on... Nothing spectacular right now, but, they frequently have deals close to ~$0.26 - $0.27/round for decent ammo.... Magtech, Federal (several), Rem (UMC), Win, Blazer, etc..

The brass casings alone are almost worth the 120.00!
