That's correct, according to the tag XXL = 44-46.
I personally run between a 42 and 44 and it fit fine.

You could probably take it up one size but you would have to have someone sew the velcro back down. Not sure it would be worth it. How much smaller are you looking for? I ask because there is another one listed in here that is an XL.
