Best place to get 1911 100 Yr. Anniversary Model?

Post by McKnife »

Hey Folks:

I can't seem to find a good deal on a Norinco 1911, so I am probably going to spoil myself on the real thing, a true Colt 45. Since it's the 100 year anniversary 1911-2011, I am interested in the 01911ANVIII 1918 45 model.

MSRP is $1200 but I am looking for the best price online. I saw Bud's had it for $994 free shipping, but it's out of stock.

Any 1911 experts have suggestions or recommendations?

Howdy, McKnife,

Several possible sources are shown if you Google or Bing "Colt 1911 Anniversary III Pistol O1911ANVIII" or some variant. As I am sure you know, Colt advises that production of the fancied up ANVII is limited to 750, and production of the ANVIII is limited to orders placed by November 31, 2011.

If you luck out and find a price like Bud's somewhere else, please send me a PM posthaste. I am planning to get one if I can get a kitchen pass, but I would not turn down saving a few bucks. The ANVIII would be great on the wall next to my original (still fired regularly) which came off the Colt line during WWI.

Due to the popularity of the Colt, and given the anniverary issue, this puppy will be hard to find. Generally Bud's and Gallery of Guns (i.e., the Gun Genie) have the best prices around.

Best of luck on your search!

I've looked online everywhere and gone to several local places that claim "reliable sources." No one has it.

The only way I see now is contacting Colt and paying the full $1200.... not sure it's worth it though. :cryin

Before you do that, check with Ray's Sporting Goods in Dallas. They cater to the LEO and serious hunter and will often have some choice arms (especially the commemoratives and anniversary editions) on hand.

Best of luck...
