Wow, didn't know they had Xray specs on the Texas campus. Those problems will arise because students who might see a concealed handgun have no idea if the gun owner is legally suppose to have it, he added.
As to the rest....

Talk about a leap of faith! We go from confusion to not being good for public safety in less than 1 sentence. Excuse me while I seek cover - the sky is falling!“It causes confusion, fear, panic, all of the above and that is not good for the learning environment and that’s not good for public safety,” said Acevedo.

Acevedo obviously doesn't like CHL. He should go back home to Kalifornia where CHL is illegal and crime rates are higher so he'll have more important things to do than worry about a college student with x-ray vision calling in multiple erroneous "man with gun" reports.

Re: Acevedo on campus carry/ the false report the other day.
So, we shouldn't allow CHL holders to carry a gun to protect themselves and other innocent people because someone might have an emotional reaction if, maybe, somehow they see a licensed concealed handgun and call 911. The Chief wants to allow people to be raped, robbed or die rather than the police be bothered to do their job and investigate after a 911 call. This is not only a matter of rights but a matter of LIFE or DEATH. To allow the discussion to be shaped any other way is risking us allowing a young woman to be raped or people to be murdered in my opinion. The Chief that made these comments should be publicly shamed, if this law is passed, every time any CHL defends themselves on a campus. That's my opinion.

Perfectly said.“If we are going to start asking the question on weather or not it is going to be an inconvenience to law enforcement in the expression and exercise of your constitutional right we have a bigger problem,” Birdwell said.

Is he saying off duty and undercover police in Austin shouldn't be allowed to carry on campus, because

As I see it, Acevedo is anti 2nd. Don't listen to what he says, watch what he does. He's just like obozo, says one thing and does another.austinrealtor wrote:Acevedo obviously doesn't like CHL. He is not to be trusted.

This could turn into a real circus. With Acevedo, Powers and Cigarroa winding everyone up in advance, once the bill becomes law, the students that are paranoid anti might be reporting every bulge in someone’s clothing as a possible gun.

God Bless America, and please hurry.

As an aside (and as a holder of a B.A. in Journalism degree)...really? The reporter actually used the word "weather" instead of "whether"? No editor picked this up? This just reinforces my belief that phonics has ruined spelling for an entire generation.“If we are going to start asking the question on weather or not it is going to be an inconvenience to law enforcement in the expression and exercise of your constitutional right we have a bigger problem,” Birdwell said.
Sorry, I'm a sticker for spelling and grammar. I don't typically call anyone out on an Internet forum (

Are you a "sticker" for spelling or a "stickler" ?Kythas wrote:As an aside (and as a holder of a B.A. in Journalism degree)...really? From the beginning, this whole thread has been fraught with spelling errors: "Avocado on Campus Carry"The Annoyed Man wrote:Now that's funny.ScottDLS wrote:Are you a "sticker" for spelling or a "stickler" ?Kythas wrote:Sorry, I'm a sticker for spelling and grammar.
