.40 advice

Also the glocks just go bang. I was at the range shooting three different calibers of Glocks today and my brother and I must have put over 500 rounds down range between the three guns. Not one jam. My 9mm Smith jammed on about the 50th round. Two cops shooting next to us were both shooting Glock 22s and I asked them if they have ever had a stovepipe or jam. One said no and the other said only after 200 rounds in a range session. I know a lot of people are Glock haters. Its like owning a Honda Accord, everybody has one. My brother had also not been to the range with his Glock 17 in 2 1/2 years. He did not even lube it with rem oil or break free during that time and took it straight to the range and it put 200 rounds down range without a hiccup. Of course if you hold all three at the same time the Glock will probably be the last you would buy at the gun store. Ergonomics are not great on Glocks! They definitely leave something to be desired. Also, the Glocks seem to be just as accurate as the XDs but when I shot the Smith M&P it seemed match grade accurate, plus it just felt great in my hand.

Okay, I said two, but I am up in the air about the 2nd. Either a Sig P250, or an SP2022. The only drawback from the 250 is that it's DAO, and with a 10 lb. Trigger pull.
Any opinions? Comments? Recommendations?

I don't know where you got a 10 pound trigger on the P-250.
It's about 5.5 pounds and very smooth with little stacking although long, I own two P-250 compacts in 9 and 40 and love them.

You're right. I thought I saw the 10 lb. trigger pull on the spec sheet. But it must have been something else. My faux pas.

I thought about all of he suggestions. Thanks. Lots to consider.

You should strongly consider the .40 versions of Smith & Wesson M&P, Glock, and Springfield XD too.

I am a novice compared to many on this forum. That being said, I have as my daily carry a Glock 27 .40 S/W. I love it. It is easy to conceal. It is easy to clean. I got it new for $520. Hope that helps.

the DOA trigger on the p250 was a turn off for me also, and after a year of carrying the 239 no real complaints, execpt that it seems to hate .40 cal fmj that is has a rounded nose instead of the flat nose
although I cant imagine the sp2022 being any different in that aspect

This is a really good deal on an unbeatable platform. I have a .40 p239 and it has been 100% reliable as well as extremely accurate. Just look up some of the online reviews on this gun and you'll see what I mean....

I have a g27 right now, but after picking up a mp40c last week and feeling it in my hands, I do believe the glock is going bye bye...I would also stay as far away from taurus autos as you can, I'm sure several people here might have them and love them, but they are a weapon that is known constantly to have problems, sig isn't a bad option either if you don't mind the weight, but at the end of the day glock is hard to beat as far as reliability, the mp40c from S&W though felt perfect in my hands, it is going to have to make it past a 2000 round torture test however before I decide to depend on it for my life.

Browsed through the first three or four pages of this. Just curious, is your point that almost any quality modern pistol is very reliable even without regular cleaning. Or was your point that the only major issues (at least in first few pages) seem to be from a pair of Sig P250s? Other than those two, I didn't see any gun with more than a two or three stoppages or malfunctions and most had 0-0-0 in the three categories. This is after 2,000 rounds fired without any cleaning, lube, or maintenance of any kind. Impressive almost across the board.

my point was against using a taurus or any other manufacturer with known reliability issues as a carry weapon. I have heard many people go on and on about their taurus, but I take a bit seriously what a lot of the guys on that forum say, since a lot of their members depend on their weapons every day. Look back at the weapons used on there, glock M&P, sig, and a few 1911's there not really much else that is even attempted.

you cant call a weapon that was not included in the test unreliable just because it wasnt tested. in fact it would be fair to say that after reviewing all of the tests more glocks failed the 2000 round challange then taurus


in all seriousnes though, glock M&P, HK, all great guns no wrong choice, I still think the p239 I linked is a great deal

good point, the point is on there no one would even consider to try one lol, they are a bit hard headed
