Academy April 10-16,2011. 11 handguns, 1 rifle, 1 shotgun.

The above link is to this week's Academy page and details the firearms on sale.

Although if you look at the page, it may seem that there are TWELVE handguns on sale,
note that the Smith and Wesson Allied Defense Forces Kit contains a Sigma, which is
also in the group of handguns for sale. So I put ELEVEN handguns in this thread's subject line.

Note also that 2 lasers are offered - one fits Taurus revolvers, the other fits Ruger LCP's.

Happy shopping. I hope someone sees something they want.

Not to nit pick, but most of the guns are at their "everyday" price. Only 3 of the hand guns are on sale.

I picked up 2 of the $69 pistol safes. They are extremely solid and a good deal for the price. I even got 15% off one because it had a couple small rust spots on the door.

Katygunnut:

I am aware that "on sale" is a debatable term.

Each week when I post the Academy sales, my intention is to simply make the
sale page available for easy viewing. Many folks may not get their Sunday paper.

As far as retail gun stores, I think Academy is reasonably priced for their guns,
if not as low as a dealer at a gun show. It's not feasible for me to research all
the prices at Academy as to whether they are "everyday" or a real good deal.

Some forum members have found their guns through these threads.

It's a big world where guns can be purchased via many channels.
These Academy ads are just one way someone may find their next handgun.

Dont get me wrong, I'm a huge fan of Academy's prices and their non-sale prices are usually better than alot of places sale prices. I have bought 11 guns there over the last 2 years. Two of those were gun's that I identified from your postings, so your service is very much appreciated.

By the way, no research is needed to identify the sale guns. Academy calls out the sale items (price drops) and non-sale items (everyday prices) in the ad that you posted.

Well, thanks for letting me know that you find these posts of use to you. It's not too often
that someone mentions that they bought something due to these postings pointing them to
their next thoracic perforator.

Regarding the sale items (price drops) vs. non-sale items, I guess I've just been oblivious to
whatever advertising is trying to tell me. :-)

That's a really good price. I paid the $180 ... and it's still worth it.

Do you think it would "activate" if I carried it IWB?

Ironically enough, all of the items I am looking at from that flyer are not on sale. I bought 2 of the pistol safes and I'm looking hard at the Stack On Gun safe. The pistol safes are great for that price. Extremely solid. And the Stack-on is over $100 cheaper than Wal-Mart's online site. Academy's everyday prices really are tough to beat.

It depends on who you compare them to. From my limited experience, Academy is more expensive than Wally World on ammo, but usually has a better selection. They are cheaper than Bass Pro Shops, Cabela's etc., at least from what I've seen. All these places are cheaper than buying ammo at a range.

Academy is usually the best of this group when it comes to gun prices, but if you shop around, you can beat Academy prices at places like Tomball Pawn.

You can usually find the best deals on everything from on-line sites, but shipping and/or FFL fees will eat into your savings a bit.

Just my 2 cents.
