Got my new FIST holster...

Post by The Annoyed Man »

I ordered a FIST #10 "Shortcut" left handed holster for my M&P340 back on 3/21 and then promptly forgot about it. I was told 4-6 weeks for delivery, and having it wasn't an emergency, so I decided not fret about it and worry when it was going to get here. It would get here when it gets here.

So today, I got a package from the brown truck of happiness. I actually couldn't figure out what it must be at first, because I wasn't expecting a holster. But here it is, just 3 weeks after it was ordered, and I have to say that this is one VERY well made holster.

Here's a couple of pictures, snapped real quick with a cellphone camera so I apologize about the quality of the pictures. But hopefully, the quality of this holster will show through:

As you can see, all the creases are sharp; stitching is regularly spaced and tight. The leather is fairly heavy and inflexible. Retention so far is very good. In fact, one of the features that is retention related but isn't visible in either of these pictures is that on the back side of the holster there is a large, pronounced hemispherical shaped indentation into the trigger guard area—far enough forward where it won't contact the trigger when holstering, but definitely deep enough to make sure this pistol isn't going to come out of its holster unless intentionally drawn.

I only have one gripe, and a minor one at that, and that is that the belt slots are almost too small. I ordered it for a 1-1/2" wide belt, and you have to actually force the belt through the belt loops to get it on your belt. On the one hand, their paperwork says that they build everything a little tight, so maybe this will loosen up some. On the other hand, the holster stays exactly where you put it on your belt. None of my other OWB holsters from any manufacturer was that tight of a fit on the belt loops when I bought them, and the result is that they do move around fore and aft a little bit. This one on the other hand isn't going anywhere.

All in all though, I am extremely pleased with this holster, and I would highly recommend it to anyone who wants to carry a J-Frame revolver OWB. The price was $64.95. (http://www.fist-inc.com/holsters/holster/10.htm)

Nice purchase there! My daily carry holster is the Fist IWB Kydex one. My brother and dad swear by them so I gave it a shot on the latest carry weapon. I really like it. Next one might be the same thing again though perhaps tuckable.

I thought it was a spelling error at first, but then I saw TAM did it. He's too old to make typing errors :biggrinjester:
