HGCA Gun Show in May (worth the time???)

Post by Medic624 »

HGCA Reliant Center Gun Show... May 14-15

Is this worth attending? :patriot:

In WA in order to buy a gun at the WA Arms Collectors gun shows you had to buy a membership for like 38 dollars and then you could buy a gun... But... the stuff was usually so overpriced it wasn't worth buying at the show.

I want to go with my SIL, Grandson and Father in law but not if it's a rip off and a waste of our time...

Any suggestions/info would be helpful :tiphat:

Gun shows in texas.
Pay the entrance fee (normally about $8 each)
some shows are better than others, I have never been to a HGCA show, but I have been to the "real gun show" and "high caliber gun shows"
of the 2 shows, I have been to probably 5 HCGS, and 4 RGS
the RGS are always more trinkets and less guns and what guns are there, are generally overpriced
the HCGS are generally more guns and better pricing.

there is a HCGS at Pasadena Convention Center this weekend and if you go to http://www.TexasGunShows.com and sign up for their mailing list, you will get emails on when they are in the area, with $1 off coupons for admissions

I have been to the Houston Gun Collector Assoc. shows and they are generally pretty good. That particular show has a lot of war collectibles if your into that sort of thing. I am not but the show is still worth going to.

HGCA is a far cry from the little High Caliber/Real shows. It takes me about 4 hours to walk all the aisles and I am only looking for 1911/EBR stuff so if you are browsing everything it is an all day affair. Well worth it. The other 2 shows I am done in less than an hour usually.

It's good if you like vintage guns. Last time I went, new gun prices were meh and ammo prices were double Walmart prices. Prices on fudge and ShamWow and jewelry looked ok. Parking is expensive.
I believe the basic political division in this country is not between liberals and conservatives but between those who believe that they should have a say in the personal lives of strangers and those who do not.

Forgot about parking. I usually park at our worksite one street over and walk. I am not paying to park there ever.

If I could only attend one show, HGCA is it. It is far better than anything else around.

I have always found good prices on new guns and EBR stuff. The Ammo to Go booth is always worth a stop if you want bulk or specialty ammo of any type.

I've got the dates set in my phone. I'll be there with my wife I'm sure. I am usually looking for desirable revolvers in .357 and 1911's in 9mm. Maybe if I come across a deal on a SOCOM II I might jump on it, but it would have to be one heck of a deal.
