I was in an accident yesterday. A guy turned right in front of me into my car. Anyway I called 911 and got the emergency guys and one LEO. We were all out of the cars when the LEO got there so I waited for him to come up to me. When he asked for my license, I gave him my DL and started to hand him my CHL. I also started to say I had a CHL and he interrupted to say "if you don't show me yours, I won't show you mine, okay?" I naturally said fine. And that was that.
He was a very friendly guy and did a great job on the accident report. We talked a little and apparently all he handles is traffic accidents. Anyway the interaction with him was very pleasant.

My first "official" showing of my CHL was also at an accident site when I got rear ended. I didn't get any memorable comments from the deputy when I handed him the DL, CHL, and insurance but that was also the first time the pistol was a real comfort. The encounter started when a truck full of five illegals rear ended me. They got somewhat mad that I insisted on having a report filed for insurance and before long, two more appeared from somewhere. It took the police about 45 minutes to arrive and the whole time I was thinking how glad I was that Texas was a shall-issue state. At the end of the day the "translator" got three tickets since he claimed to be the driver and I got to file a claim on my insurance
