I have been looking online at owb holsters for my g23. I am confident that I will be able to stay concealed with a quality holster provided the pistol rides high and tight enough to the body (yes I do have a couple of quality gun belts).

The blackhawk serpa cqc looks good and I prefer models with this type retention verses thumb straps, but the belt loops looks like it would ride lower than some models. http://www.blackhawk.com/product/SERPA- ... 4,1410.htm

Another possibility that looks good to me is the Crossbreed SnapSlide. I haven't heard many negatives about the quality of their products in general, but haven't found much at all about this particular model. http://www.crossbreedholsters.com/Holst ... roductName

No experience with the Crossbreed, but the SERPA is what we use for classes. I could see carrying with it, but I am kinda partial to the M-TAC IWB that I have.

You may want to look at something like the Bianchi model 82 Carrylok. It looks like an interesting design with the retention style you prefer.

I prefer a pancake-type leather holster for OWB concealment--I find it rides closer to the body. I usually carry a Glock 19 in a DeSantis Speed Scabbard; with the proper belt it conceals as well as an IWB holster.

I do occasionally carry in a Serpa. It rides too far from the body to conceal effectively without a jacket, so I only use it in the winter (or when open carrying out of state).

How long have you had the DeSantis? Curious how it holds up over time. My main concern with all leather is it softening up with age.

I've had it for several years and it is holding up well--don't anticipate needing to replace it in the forseeable future. I'm a student and therefore don't get to carry all the time, so my 3-4 years of using it is probably equivalent to a year or so of full-time carry.

I've found that for OWB leather is the most concealable, mainly because of the flexibility it has to conform to your body's shape. I've heard it said that leather holsters should be considered disposable items, and if I can get 2-3 years of heavy use out of a $50 holster I'm happy with that.

Ive used the desantis speed scabbard and it did a decent job in my opinion. Mine softened up a little bit and started to not keep the weapon close to my body. I then switched to a mitch rosen UPL express and what a difference. Leather is much more solid and holds a g30 extremly tight to the body. I believe their lead times are about 3 weeks which isnt too bad considering their top line holsters take months.

I have pretty much settled on the Bianchi 82. It's high enough that it doesn't show and it fits snug even with a standard belt.

I find the G Code kydex holster with the paddle attachment to be comfortable and easily concealable under a loose shirt. It rides very high and tight to the body. The Comfort Carry IWB attachment for the holster is also a great carry method.
