Glock trigger spring

Broken trigger spring on my G34. It was simple to replace. I hadn't heard of this before. Its about 7 yrs old and has a gazillion rounds through it. Its even been cleaned once or twice. Is this a common occurance and I"ve just been fortunate ?

My 1989 Glock 19 has been cleaned twice ... perhaps I should check the spring.

I've had it happen numerous times, once during a range qualification. I had to do some fancy Tap-Rack-Bang work to keep the gun running. I now change out trigger springs once a year.

Be advised that Glock made a modification to the design of the trigger bar to help prevent this problem. The old style had a rather sharp edge where the spring hooked on. The new style is radiused and has a groove to help hold the spring. If yours is the old style, consider replacing it.

New York Trigger Springs are much more reliable but I can't stand how they feel.

A Glock Armorer buddy told me that little stock trigger spring is about the ONLY thing that will break in a Glock. He recommended the NY1 "New York" trigger spring with a 3.5 connector. I have this setup in every Glock I own and it works great for me. YMMV, but I like the way it feels and the faster return of the trigger allows me to shoot multiple shots MUCH faster and more accurately than the stock setup.
