Finally joined in.

Post by texas-sig »

Well after more than nine months lurking around the forum i finally did it and joined in. Got to say this forum helped me out a lot with information and other related questions i had about chl, instructors, and classes. Took the course in January and got my chl in April. ;-)

Congratulations on the plastic and joining the forum!!! :tiphat: This forum has certainly been a bottomless trough of information and humor for me over the last couple of years. :patriot: This forum is well run and the moderators are among the best around! You've been lurking long enough to know all that, though!

Welcome! How is the vibe out in El Paso these days? You guys just acclimated to being so close to the Mexico violence, or are people edgy?

Well working shift work barely gives me some time to do things around the house and spend time with the kids and wife, specially when i'm in graveyards. All i do is pretty much sleep and take care of our five month old boy and two daughters. I work law enforcement so the threat against us is pretty real. We've had shots fired from across the river into city hall, and cars that drive through the interstate (part of I-10 is right next to the river), kidnappings, and one of our own was gunned down in Mexico (wife worked at the US Consulate in Juarez) which is the main reason a lot of us decided to acquire a chl. People here really don't see the reality since nothing makes it out to the media and public but the cartels are here on this side doing what they do. El Paso has been getting infested with gangs that are working for the cartels. I don't think we have it as bad as south Texas but it's just a matter of time with the way things are going with all the corruption within our own local government.
