I had always liked the idea of Glocks, their reliability, accesory market, etc but never bonded with or bought one because of their grips ... I wouldnt say I was a "hater" they just never got me all excited because they never felt comfortable to me..... then along came the gen 4.... Whatever small changes they made, made all the difference for me. Finally, it felt comfortable to hold and shoot. Picked up a gen 4 Glock 19 almost a year ago and have been carrying it almost daily since recieving my lic. (I switch off with other guns now and then so they dont get lonely lol) The early gen 4s did have a spring prob and 115 gr ammo that has been since resolved. I've put hundreds of rounds of 115 gr ammo through mine and havent had a single problem.

agreed - not sure spending good money on something you dislike makes good sense.

there are other options out there if you are just wanting a high capacity firearm in a pistol format.

Yes $480 is good new Glock price. But since this is a Gen 3 you should be able to find a used one for about $400-$450.

Only difference between used and new Glock is a few moderately useful add ons (cleaning brush & rod, speedloader) - assuming used one doesn't include those. But Glocks last forever so likely little-to-no mechanical difference between new and used. Only Glock part I've ever NEEDED to replace is recoil spring after 10 years and unknown number of rounds (well into 5-digit range). But swapping out newer/better parts (extended slide stops, sights, trigger parts etc) is so easy that I usually upgrade those also and you might find those as a bonus on some used guns.
