Field stripping a S&W Bodyguard 380?

We just pick up a Bodyguard and I tried stripping after my wife said she had a hard time. Man that take down lever is a pain, but the thing that has got me wondering is it disengaging the slide lock when you push the lever down. Is that normal? I had the pleasure of the slide slamming shut on my hand and that smarts. If thats normal anybody have any tips its hard for me to get my hands around this little thing good and not put them somewhere stupid.

Other then that it a nice little gun and I can't wait to get some rounds down range. I'm not sure about it being DAO, but maybe it will help with trigger control.

My first Bodyguard 380 -- early serial number that had a takedown pin backing out when firing -- was easy to take down, but was sent back to S&W for the mentioned problem. Removing the pin from the replacement frame is MUCH harder, but can be done without injury. If I recall correctly, I have to rotate the pin further than the "stop" to remove it. I have had no issues with the slide lock dropping unexpectedly when disassembling.

The DA trigger does take some getting used to. Mine have been very smooth, but a very long pull. About the time you are sure the trigger is against the front strap the sear will trip.

Nice thing is it has "second strike" capability, which is odd they don't advertise that. Yes, it is a pain to take down, and it did pinch the fire out of my hand when it slammed shut. I sent mine back complaining it was too hard to remove pin. It is easier now. I don't like how far the mag release sticks out. I keep bumping it in my pocket holster and release it.
