Recommendations for CCW please

Can anyone recommend a concealed carry weapon, please? I am presently using a Glock 27 for concealed carry. Nice gun, easy shooting and easily concealed.
I have a problem carrying it with a chambered round. I realize the Glock is a great gun but with my mindset I am more comfortable carrying
a gun with an external manual safety and decocker.

I would like to purchase another gun in the .40 cal that is small and easily concealed, with a manual safety and preferably a decocker.

Any suggestions? Please no Beretta PX4 Storm SC.

Second. Put one in the chamber of that glock and go on a walywalk. If it's in a holster, it's safe. It's how it was designed. If your still uncomfortable for daily Cary take it out of the chamber, but try it again next day off

Personally I have no problem with carrying a firearm that has no external safety of any kind, like my M&P9 (no external safeties at all, but for some reason I was always nervous when holstering a Glock. I finally attributed it to all the talk of "Glock Leg" and realised that my holster, knowledge and methods were good and got past that mental block. I still got rid of the Glock, but that was for other reasons. Very few firearms will have a decocker and a manual safety, its not common for a manufacturer to see a need for both. Of the top of my head I can think of the Taurus 24/7OSS pistols, Some Beretta 92 pistols, my new FNH USA FNX pistol, and some H&K setups.

My advice would be to Buy a good high quality holster, get past any mental blocks, and carry the Glock if you really like it.

That EMP looks like a nice gun. Thanks for the input. What is wrong with a decoker? My Ruger P-89 has it
and I really like that gun. Too bad it is just too big to conceal and carry. I use it for my house gun.

I personally believe you currently have an EXCELLENT carry weapon with the G27 - especially since you already find it's double stacked configuration "easy to conceal".

However, the holster you choose is PARAMOUNT to the safe carrying of the weapon. The G27 should have its trigger completely covered and remain secure. I treat all my Glocks and their holsters as sets that remain intact unless they are being shot or serviced.

Any other weapon you choose that uses a manual safety is going to require training/retraining to become comfortable with it.

I routinely carry a G23 or a G27 depending on the day. I have the utmost confidence in their operation and dependability.

I have and like both but lean towards using the Comp-Tac. The Comp-Tac delivery time was about 4 times as fast as well.

I also carry a Glock 27 with round chambered. I'll admit when I began carrying everyday, I was a little apprehensive about the fact that a Glock doesn't have a "safety". If you have a quality holster, you have nothing to fear. I use a Minotaur which keeps the trigger completely covered. I would suggest that you spend lots of time practicing at home unholstering and reholstering, unloaded of course. Eventually you will train your finger to remain indexed throughout the drawing process.

The Glock 27 is a great CCW. As many before have said, strap it on and forget about it!

Thanks everyone!! I have a holster by High Noon Holsters and I have a fanny pack by Gun gear. Both have the trigger totally covered
and protected.

The High Noon holster is molded for the Glock 26/27. It is the "Public Secret" model by High Noon.

The "fanny pack" is for carry when wearing shorts and a tee shirt. Just cannot conceal it otherwise.
Easily concealed with shorts and a Hawaiian type shirt but with a pullover [tee shirt] it cannot be totally
concealed.

I just received a "low ride" holster by JMG holsters. Will accommodate the Glock 26/27 and similar size
guns. It also totally covers the trigger.

Now to get over my "problem" of carrying it with a round chambered is another story. Hope you people appreciate
my honesty. I am willing to bet that there are many others with the same feelings but will not admit to it.

Don't tell me about my fanny pack!! I am pushing 69 and have asked people I know that carry and all they say is
that I look like an old fart with a fanny pack. Do not care how it looks, it is legal and comfortable in really hot weather.

For me an important characteristic for a carry pistol is a consistent trigger pull. I had a 9mm Beretta with a 'decocker' which made the first trigger pull quite different from subsequent pulls. This made me very uncomfortable and quite inaccurate on the first shot. So I now (mostly) carry a Kahr pm9 which has the sweetest (though longish) trigger pull of any gun I own. I'm so accurate with it: see the photo below. I sometimes carry a Kimber 1911 which also has a consistent trigger pull (round chambered) once the thumb safety is off. I'm tempted to put this target on my front door ... But, no need to advertise.

No reason to be afraid of the the glock. The glock will not go bang unless you pull the trigger. If you don't want the glock to go bang, don't pull the trigger.

If you do go with an external safety you will need to spend many hours at the range otherwise when you do need the gun to go bang you are going to pull the trigger and nothing is going to happen.

I'm never in too much of a hurry to make sure the glock does not go bang when I don't want it to go bang. When the only thing that stands between me and death is the time is takes for me to pull my gun and fire a round I don't want to have any more steps in that process than are absolutely necessary. An external safety adds an additional step to that process that can and has been skipped in life or death situations.

I for one do not buy into the idea that you need to carry the gun that you are the most comfortable with. I do buy into the idea that you need to carry the gun that you are the most efficient with when your life depends on it.

I just looked at it online. The SR 9c or the SR 40 c looks good to me. I guess I like Rugers!!

I've been using a g27 for two yrs plus now and love it. I have a Sig 229 in a 40 and love that one also. It's about 1/2 longer and has a decocker. I'm really thinking to switch to it for my daily carry.
