I agree, which is why I have someone who is still working on my 3.5 inch RIA, and so far, I usually wear out the recoil spring before I get to a round count without malfunctions that I find acceptable, maybe I just have high standards.

If you change to something with a manual safety, be sure to practice (before you start carrying it) so much that you can't miss the safety on the draw. Because if you ever have to make a split second decision to draw and shoot, you'll revert to your training.

The other day I purchased a Ruger SR 9c. Took it to the range today and fired 200 rounds of various ammo. It comes
with 2 mag. a 17 round mag and a 10 round. Plenty of fire power. All my carry ammo is now Winchester Supreme Elite in the 9 mm I have the +P JHP
in the 124 grain. For my .40 cal I have the same ammo in the 165 grain. I fired 50 rounds of that ammo through the SR 9c and the Glock 27 .40

Not a hitch!! The gun worked great and it seems to be very accurate. So far I am happy with it. It is a very nice gun but
I may be partial to Rugers. I have had a Ruger P-89 for a lot of years but it is just
too big to carry comfortably so it is now my "house gun."

I will be alternately carrying the Sr 9c and the Glock 27. I have been carrying the Glock 27 with round chambered for the past couple days.
Felt kind of strange but I am trying to get over it by practice and constantly reminding myself "keep your finger off the trigger". I
never do put my hand on the trigger but rather place my finger on the front of the trigger guard.

The SR 9c has what looks like a Glock style trigger and it also has a manual safety. Which I like!! I had been carrying my Beretta with
a manual safety but when it came apart on the range I went back to the Glock. BTW, Beretta will be sending me a new gun to replace
the one I had since it is not repairable.

I am now waiting for my "new" Beretta so I can break that one in and add to my collection. My daughter is wanting a gun for her house.
I will be giving her the Ruger P-89. I had night sights installed on it and she has fired and is familiar with that gun. She was wanting to get the Taurus Judge but I
offered the P-89 instead. Saves her some $$$.

Thanks for your input but now have all the guns I need and then some. I will put my idea of the Colt Defender on "ice" right now unless I get the urge
again for a new toy. :thewave

Something like this might make you feel better about carrying the glock.

http://glockstore.com/pgroup_descrip/7_ ... ilter_4%3D

SAF-T-BLOK slides behind the trigger, snaps in easily and stays firmly in place thus preventing accidental discharge. Saf-T-Block is quickly ejected by the trigger finger. Independent tests by Performance Shooting, Inc. showed that "zero" time was added to draw and fire the weapon. Highly recommended for unconventional carry. Suggested use when carrying in a fanny pack or tucked in the belt, etc. When installed, goes unnoticed and can prevent your own gun from being used against you during a gun snatch. Available in black only.

I sure will!!

I ordered the "all model Glocks, left hand only". I chose US Mail so it will probably be a week or so if they jump on it.

How long has this "block" been out? Just wondering if it is something new that they just added.

It's been around several years. I don't know why I didn't think about it when I first started reading this thread. But I guess better late than never.

I'll be honest, I don't like those inserts that go behind the trigger on a Glock at all. First off many people do not realise that you must put it in with an empty chamber (striker has to be cocked in order for it to fit), and they are asking for an ND every time they put it in a loaded firearm (loaded meaning "with one in the chamber"). Secondly, Glock owners/carriers often whine that they don't like manual safeties because "It's an extra step that you might forget under high stress". Yet fumbling around with a piece of plastic trapped between the trigger and the frame which requires you to put your finger INSIDE the trigger guard before you are ready to fire seems like a good idea to those same folks. The third, and final reason, I really don't like it is because anyone who feels a need for such a mechanism is not completely comfortable with their firearm and needs to spend more time familiarising themselves with it. Simply put if you don't trust the gun to function safely in the manner its designed then you need to get a different gun and/or more training with that gun.
How do you explain a dog named Sauer without first telling the story of a Puppy named Sig?

...agree...might as well put a cotton ball behind the trigger...with a string attached...it's been out for years but seems gimmicky...I can see someone dying because they forgot to poke it out and gun won't fire...I think the key to ultimate safety with guns with the glock type trigger is a good firm holster with complete trigger coverage and knowing your weapon well...

Save your money and buy a Springfield EMP in .40. :thumbs2:
That EMP looks like a nice gun. Thanks for the input. What is wrong with a decoker? My Ruger P-89 has it
and I really like that gun. Too bad it is just too big to conceal and carry. I use it for my house gun.

Chuck

...NOTHING is wrong with a decocker...all my Ruger .45s are decockers...best action I've ever had...can't speak for other brands...don't like a traditional DA/SA where a safety must be used to drop the hammer...then put back up...I had a P97 DAO for awhile...trigger was loooooooooooooooooong...

The guy wants additional safety feature for his glock. Don't like this recommendation? Find him another one...and stop whining. :biggrinjester:

I agree about the good holster. I would not carry any gun without a holster that covered the trigger. I might add that people have died because they forgot to disengage a thumb safety. Everyone should become familiar and proficient with whatever firearm they carry in the condition in which they carry whether it be a stock glock with one in the chamber or a 1911 locked and cocked.

A little personal history.

I am brand new to concealed carry. :???: I just received my CCL last month so I am still trying out new things and getting used to carrying everywhere I go. I have an assortment of guns and holsters.

So, when I ask questions it is from a new CC guy. I am familiar with guns of all types. Not an expert, just familiar with them. I have my preferences just as everyone else
has theirs.

I am not a stranger to ultra tense situations, I have had more than my share in my lifetime.

I have had to make decisions under extreme stress and I am sure I can still do that now.

I have been shot at, blown up and seemed to get away with things that only nutty people would try to do.

If the time would come that I needed a gun I am sure I will handle the situation. I hope it never comes to that.

If I make it to Oct. 28 I will be 69 yo. At one time I was told that I would never make it to see 30. So I figure I have gone 39 years further than expected.:

Nothing wrong with asking questions while still having one's own preferences. While in the military I was first issued a Mod. 1911 .45 the govt issue was not very accurate.
I was then issued a S&W K-38 .38 spec. revolver Combat Masterpiece. Nice shooting gun!! Better than the govt issue 1911 in my opinion.

The 1911 mod. guns today are not the GI issued .45s they are tighter built and as a result their accuracy has greatly improved. I have a Colt 1991 Govt. that I bought new last year to give to my son.
I have fired it more than a few times and it is a really well put together and easy shooting handgun. Too big to carry!!

I will get comfortable and trained on whatever gun I finally favor as my carry gun. Right now it is the Glock 27, Beretta 9 SC and have added the Ruger SR 9c. All fine guns
that are easy to shoot and hit the target. Still a tossup for me which one will it be? When I finally get comfortable with one I will stick to it.

I really enjoy the difference of opinions in this forum. Goes to show that the US has made many quality guns. Including parts of the Glock. :patriot:
