Houston gunsmith for A2 front sight install

Getting my build sorted out now,

going to need a gunsmith to do the drilling/reaming of the A2 gas block. I'm trying to do the entire project by myself but this looks like something I won't be able to handle.

SOG Armory has a smith that I have used and is very fair and honest in his work. Sorry its on the other side of town from you, but I was pleased. I will for warn you it is a drop off type service and he is not on site, so he picks up the guns once or twice a week and then returns them to the shop when he is done with the work.

You could try The Arms Room in League City. Jim is pretty good with that stuff. They are a little slow to get to it, but its probably because of the volume of repairs they get in, or because they hate me...

Might want to try Texas Tactical Gear in Webster. They have done some work for me and they are fast, good, and CHEAP!!

Well my upper is at the arms room. Guys behind the gunsmith counter were friendly and knew what they needed to do right off the bat (I really didnt), beats Carter's by a long shot.

Carter's gunsmith's are not that impressive at all, neither is the price or wait time.

Good choice on the Arms Room. I've heard good things about their gun smiths and I found their staff to be quite helpful. I do not have many nice things to say about Carter's staff, at least at the Southwest location.

Carters prices weren't what drove me away, it wasn't the gun smith either... they have several people there who just have bad attitudes and I don't care to do business with them. I've wanted to look at a gun there a few times and I get that "buy it or quit wasting my time". Not going to keep going there when there's places that treat you right whether you're buying 600 bucks worth or 6 bucks of their stuff.

I got the sight back on Tuesday. About one week wait time and 75 bucks. There's a pic of my rifle in the other thread but ill take a few of the sight too. I have a couple issues with the work.

The sight has a slight left cant. Ill see if it affects my windage enough to make a fuss over it when I get to shoot it. Also, by my understanding the holes for taper pins should also be tapered correct? These holes were constand ID. Ill be happy if it works, next time ill just do it myself though. I don't think its asking too much to have a front sight get put on straight when you're having a gunsmith do it.

I also have another beef with them over what i saw with another customer interaction but ill post it later. In the meantime never bring them a revolver.
