Supertuck Question

Post by TexasAggie09 »

Howdy Yall,
I just got my new Supertuck in the other day and all I can say is wow! Why did I waste so much money on other holsters when this one existed the whole time!? It is very comfortable, much more than my other holsters. I just need to get me a better belt!

My question though is, given that its a little more difficult to put on than my previous "one loop" holsters, when yall have to disarm say to run into the post office or somewhere else, do yall leave the holster in place? Will the Kydex eventually deform while being empty for an extended period? Thanks!

The kydex will retain it's shape while empty so there's no problem with leaving the holster on with no gun in it.

I leave my holster on all the time with or without the pistol. You don't need to worry about the kydex deforming.

Even if it did deform you can just put the pistol in it and hit it with a blow dryer to reform it.

:iagree:

unless your body puts off some crazy heat I wouldn't worry about the kydex not retaining its shape.

I do exactly as you describe. If I have to disarm, the pistol comes out of the holster. I keep the holster on. It hasn't effected my leather/kydex one bit.

The Kydex won't deform, but the leather backing will stretch out quite a bit over time around the shape of your gun.

My holster also stays on. I bought a ton of holsters I hated before I got mine, so the good news was I had plenty to choose from to install under my steering wheel when i get outa the car and have to disaram :anamatedbanana

As for deformation--no way. I disarm M-F when I get to school, and wak around campus all day long with the holster on. No issues whatsoever, as a matter of fact, it did a FANTASTIC job of breaking in the leather very, very quickly.

OH NOES!! And this evil holster, which actually touches a real live GUN most of the time, didn't crawl out of your pants and strangle the nearest 15-20 innocent bystanders on campus just for fun? :biggrinjester:

And on a serious note, everyone else is right. If you have to disarm, leave on the holster, remove gun, and put it back when you're done. Easy as pie.

Ive housebroken the hoster. I take it for daily walks, sent it to obedience school--As long as I keep it fed it doesn't fly off the handle :)

I also leave my supertuck on as well. I have a seperate cheap holster in my car I put my gun in when I disarm. Much easier than taking the whole thing off. On a side not that kydex is starting to take a toll on my finish. Otherwise I love my supertuck!

I would not worry about the Kyndex deforming, but I would worry about it cracking. May not happen for a while, but over time it may develop a crack. I remember reading a thread about it happening when wearing the holster empty for long periods of time. I read about this on the crossbreed forum at xdtalk.com. Owner of xdtalk is also the owner of CrossBreed and will answer questions on the holsters.
