Looking into a shotgun

I too have a Mossberg 500 18 1/2 in barrell. It sits in the corner next to my bed for any HD situation that should arise. Its been my "experimental" gun, since I dont have any gunsmithing skills to modify my pistols. It has been fun to add and subtract things to it, while not necessary, really just to individualize it. In its current form, it has a knoxx recoil reducing, pistol grip, telescoping stock on it. I do prefer a solid stock but I put the knoxx on it more as a psychological confidence booster so my wife would be more inclined to practice with it. On thing about pistol grips is that it makes it a PITA to field strip, so I havent done so since, I just spray a bunch of CLP in the action and blow it out with compressed air. I like the saftey position and the wider opening when feeding rounds into the tube. Like Andy said, you do have to sacrifice and extra round if you are doing a tactical switch of ammo type, but I figure I am not really going to be doing that anyway, so it wasnt a big deal for me.

I second looking around at pawn shops. For the longest time I had some chinese brand that I cut the barrell off and kept in the back room at the office for a lil' extra security. Ended up trading it for some musical gear lol.

Thanks for the input, gang. I went ahead and ordered in a Mossberg 500 camp combo. It should be in later this week, so perhaps after a take-down/clean/lube session I'll be able to take it an the FAL (installed new irons) down to the range for some shoulder busting.
