I'm wondering if it makes any difference on the performance of the bullet whether or not the jug is sealed?

I decided to determine that a long time ago, and it does make a difference in the reaction of the jug, but I don't know about the slug.

I feel that the expansion of the slug would probably remain the same, unless the jug was behind something else like glass. I am really wanting to try out some talon rounds in 45 though, that a nasty looking slug, all the others look identical in size to me

I pit some 45 gold dots through jugs and got a 3/4" mushroom. I have one sitting on my desk at work

Back in the day, we used to shoot potatoes. We would find a place in the desert where we could shoot out at 100 yards plus, and then start setting out individual potatoes, usually several sacks. We would go back, set up shooting benches and snipe away. It was a blast, and you could see the potatoe explode from several hundred yards out.
