Unless the rust is really horrible, you should be able to restore reliable function by doing the following:strider67 wrote:Being a new CHL-er, I wonder if I could tap into your experience and expertise for some direction...
One of my favorite handguns (as I have about 5 favorites)is my Sig Sauer P229 .40 Stainless. When purchased several years ago, it came with 2 magazines. One of these mags has been in my 'hunting box' that has traveled with me for years. Upon receiving my license, I started taking inventory on all things I could be using on a daily basis. I noticed some surface rust on the outside of the mag, yet it doesn't APPEAR to be inside the spring mechanism. From this point, I am asking for reccomendations. Remove the rust (and how?) and use it or toss it and buy a new one (as it may be unreliable now).
