Springfield Ultra

Post by jayg0351 »

Does anyone have a Springfield Utlra thety use as EDC? I have been thinking of getting one and getting rid of my full size 1911. How do they shoot, how is trhe recoil compared to the full size 1911 and are there any special tools needed to disasemble.

Here is my Springer Ultra Compact .45 and my EMP 9mm.
The .45 is all steel. They both have custom grips by "Sarge".

I carry the EMP in the Summer and the UC in the Winter.
If I am going to a bad part of town I might carry both of them and the Hi-Power! :thumbs2: :smilelol5:

The UC is not snappy like a 9mm. It is comfortable and accurate. The LW version with Alum frame may be different. You do need the small plastic sleeve (supplied) to comfortably remove the dual captive recoil system. Some peeps say they can do it without the tool, but not me. I personally removed it and installed a GI short rod and a 24# Wolff spring.

The UC is not inexpensive......800+ NIB (if you can find one).
Used ones are also hard to come by........peeps seem to keep them once they get 'em.
