Finally Got one... Never thought I would

Post by snatchel »

iPhone. It really is that great, and its no wonder everyone has one. I guess I could have waited till September when iPhone 5 comes out, but I couldnt go that long without a phone. My Samsung Captivate killed over, and I needed something. Figured as much as I like my iPad I would just go with iPhone. Good choice. Since Im pretty hard on my phones I got an otterbox to go with it.

Good for you....I am hoping to get one in a few months. I have an i-pod, and I love it. My phone is not in great shape so when it croaks we will look at the budget and see.

Thats pretty much what we did MamaBear. I knew my captivate was gonna crash-the thing was a piece of junk since the day I bought it. Now that we are in tax free Oregon on vaca, and our financial aid came through, we went ahead and took advantage of the extra money and savings. My wife needed an iPad for school, so we bought her one as well. 199.00, no tax. Cant complain.

I love my iPhone, now on my 2nd one. Had little use for cellphones before. The large bright screen sold me, could not see the the flip-phone keyboard or screen.
It's a pocket PC, and an ebook reader.

Snatchel, you bought an iPad for $199 ???

Most recent date for iP5 is October 7th.

My crying time is that Apple will most likely bring out a new iPad 3 in early 2012. I can't jump in when they keep moving the pool!

Be sure you download the SureFire shot timer - best shooting app on the iPhone - functional shot timer, works just as well as $200 devices used at shooting matches. And you can email results to yourself or whomever directly from the app.

Give the Otterbox a try for a while, and if you don't like it, there's a waterproof case out for the iPhone now. It is much slimmer than the Otterbox, but is supposed to offer the same (or better) protection against shock.

My F-I-L destroyed two Otterboxes so he switched to the LifeProof case, and IIRC, their home-testing protocol is for you to toss the phone in a sink full of water once you get the case on. He hasn't done that yet, but I'm intrigued by the concept. http://www.lifeproof.com/

My iPhone is nearly two years old now. It wore an Otterbox until about a month ago. Got my wife one of those Magpul iPhone covers in pink and she and I both liked it, so picked up one in black for myself. Not as much protection, but sure makes the phone that much thinner and easier to use compared to Otterbox - also notice a slight improvement in reception quality.

Sorry for the confusion, I bought my iPhone for 199. iPad cost 499 I think, so we basically made Apple stock go up in about an hour. LoL. Otterbox is just what I have always used, but I hadnt heard of lifeproof until now. The bulk doesnt really bother me, I usually clip the case to my pocket. But thanks for the heads up!!

AR,
I've got a 3GS that I put an Otterbox on just for 'special occasions' like going to the deer lease or other physically active occasions. It is definitely a bit bulky, and the 'grippy' nature of the cover makes it hard to slip in a pocket. I've been tempted by the Magpul covers, but haven't sprung for one yet. I also dislike the less-responsive nature of the touchscreen with the Otterbox in place.

Congrats!! you have made a good choice.

i'm thinking about getting the Ghost Shield. I see those guys at the malls.
The product seems pretty good and I don't have to worry about bubbles, because they will put in on for me.

If your looking for screen protectors, ZAGG offers one. Ana got one for her iPad, and its warrantied for LIFE. You register it online or whatever, and if it rips\tears\punctures they replace it. Its super thick and durable, and the response is great. If you get it at BestBuy they install it free, and BUBBLE FREE (cuz bubbles suck.)
