Exactly. As per Springer's site it is the first 1911 to be built for the shorter 9mm and .40. I had her hold the Kimber because it was the same size and they did not have an EMP and to see if she liked the fit and feel of it. If she didn't then there was no point to keep on with the EMP.

Thanks Chuck. One of the things I like about it is the weight. It will help with the recoil in such a small gun.

I have the EMP .40 and the recoil is not bad at all. The recoil on the 9MM should be that much less. I am sure the weight helps but I think
there are other features that absorb much of the recoil.

A really nice looking, good shooting gun. I had one problem right out of the box. The "roll pin" staking the front
sight was backing out as I was shooting it. I then found out that the Springfield customer service is outstanding as well.

I am sure that pin problem was not common but I just wanted to throw in the great customer service.

The gun comes with tritum night sights, 3 mags and holster and mag holder assembly.

It also has a small plastic "field stripping tool". When you get the gun call the customer service and ask
for a couple more. They can be easy to lose and it will more difficult to field strip it without that little "tool".

I called and got 2 more, just in case. Free of charge!!

Are you really buying it for your wife or is that an excuse to get yourself a really nice gun?

Yea, I am really getting it for her. It would be her gun. I have my custom Springer 5" 1911 right now and would love to get the Professional and a 4" model at some point in the future.

When I asked why this was so, I was told that during the development phase the .40 was causing stress fractures on the aluminum frame. It was later changed to a carbon steel frame. The 9mm is still on the aluminum frame.

I was put off by the weight of the loaded .40 so I bought the 9mm. As was stated before, I cringed at the initial price but that pain was soon a long forgotten memory after my first visit to the range! No regrets! The EMP is the best shooting and most reliable handgun I own! I have had no problems carrying or concealing. I highly recommend this weapon!

I did not know the 9 MM was aluminum. Anyhow, I bought the .40 because I have two 9MM carry guns and wanted a .40 to replace my Glock 27. In my 9's I load 127 grain Winchester Elite +P ammo.
In my .40 I load Winchester Elite 155 gr HP. The .40 is still tossing out more power than the +P 9 but not that much. I just wanted to stick with 9MM and .40 Have a lot of ammo on hand not to replace the
Glock 27. Contrary to many I like the .40 SW.
