Russia says no to Kalashnikovs

Post by TXlaw1 »

According to this interesting article in Pravda, the Russian Defense Ministry will no longer buy AK-74 rifles because they have too many and they are outdated.

The article is unclear about the future of the AK-47 but does mention "anti-AK-47 plans" of the Defense Ministry. Seems they may be buying foreign made weapons in the future.
Jesus said, "And the one who has no sword must sell his cloak and buy one." (Luke 22:36 NET) Also, Jesus said, "When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own homestead, his possessions are undisturbed"(Luke 11:21 NAS)

Pretty Interesting. I must say I do find it pretty hard to believe Russia would actually import rifles from foreign manufacturers on a wide spread scale though. They have other/newer rifles made in house with great innovation that really don't have any direct links to the Kalashnikov lineage, such as the AEK series.

Still though, seeing Russia using FNH Rifles... imagine that! ;-)

As broke as Russia is I cant imagine them replacing their existing AKs. There still quite effective in battle as most of Africa and South America can attest. Our govt has lots of our cash and loves to spend it even though we didnt need a replacement 5.56. Russia just doesnt have it though.
