I Got Outted...from the Forum

Post by TLynnHughes »

As is probably obvious, my name on the forum is my name...sort of. Well, now I can tell you first hand that you never know who's watching. I was at a recent event of A Girl and A Gun in Austin (away from my home in the greater Houston area). I was chatting with the 20 or so ladies who attended. Out of the blue, one of them asked me, "Are you the Ms. Hughes on the texaschlforum?" I froze for a minute while my brain did some calculating to try and recall if I had said anything stupid recently. Being unable to recall, I finally conceded that I was. She indicated that she comes here often and reads the posts, but I believe she said she hasn't registered. I was caught off guard for a minute because I think it's easy to forget just how many people actually hang out here at the forum.

And a big howdy to the lady who asked the question...if you're reading this....jump on in and chat. We're mostly friendly folks!!

Hehe, me either <blush>

I suppose it's something to think about, but at the same time, I guess its like running into a coworker at an IDPA match...I may have been 'outed', but if the other party weren't more-or-less on-board, they wouldn't have been there either LOL

And to the individual who hasn't yet registered, welcome! :txflag:

I don't mind as the "business" I am in doesn't care. I know some folks though have posted they carry at work and the employees handbook forbids it. I would be concerned about that for sure.

My name is RPB nearly everywhere the last several years, but still:

1) While fishing a couple guys came up and said "Hey are you RPB from ___ forum?"

Now that wasn't so startling as they knew from a fishing forum but ...

2) IN HEB grocery shopping a guy with a little girl asked "Hey are you RPB from ___ forum?"

I need to stop wearing the same hat all the time, it's ***very*** recognizable. "rlol"

I get outed too. But since I walk around in a Crossfire Training t-shirt or polo most of the time, it is to be expected. ;-)

I could get one of your tshirts and we could confuse the heck out of folks! JUST kidding!

I like the name of your business (and your nickname). I think it's great! I'd be happy to be outed for that.

I got outted at my local gunrange earlier this year. I was showing one of my Beretta 92s to someone, and I mentioned I had several more. I was asked by that guy if I was "shipwreck," as I am well known on many gun forums for my "wheel of Berettas" photo (all my beretta 92s laid out in a circle)

Who is that long handle barred moustache guy with Crossfire shirt I saw in Cabelas last week? Seemed like a nice enough guy
I asked for him at the gun bar, fellow behind the counter asked what I wanted him for (odd question I thought). I said "I just want to shake his hand." Counter fellow looked at me serious and said "You do know he is am amputee with prosthetics don't you?" "rlol"
