Its in the mail sorta

Post by Bill »

Hey Guys and Gals, this is my first post and hopefully not my last. I am new to shooting except for the few bad guys I have run into, thus my reason to carry, as well as my wifes
I do have a question regarding the application packet.
I submited via the internet same as my wife did. She got her packet back in time for the CHL class but I did not. I filled out the one we got in class but wonder If I send it in will there be a problem with the application number not matching the packet they are sending me ( one day).
I would like to send it in, but this may cause the whole system to lockup, thu delaying a allready long process.
Any advice?
Thanks Bill

Welcome to the board!

I know how you feel when I paid online a week before the class I took the class and then waited a week, still no packet  Now I am thinking what is the problem so I call Austin, they say we will send you another one out. The next day my packet comes in the mail. 3 days later a new packet comes in the mail. They both had the same application number. That is my story...

I waited because I refuse to have to argue that I already paid and someone saying "No you didn't, no form of payment was recieved with your application number and we have not recieved the application that we mailed to you".
Don't get caught acting stupid in the no stupid zone

You should wait for the packet from DPS. It has your CHL number on it.

I have to ask about this;

The battle of San Jacinto

Here I was dead asleep on a Friday night when our outside mutt Ginger awakened me. She normally does not bark unless she has something in her sites. I fly out of bed to the French door looking out into the back yard and see a Hispanic male trying to cross my 7ft rod iron fence.

In The next moment I was standing within 20ft of him holding my 1911 ready to fire. I noticed his leg was stuck in the fence, of course I was yelling on the ground but he was really stuck. He finally came loose and fell to the ground with a thud, but jumped up and took one step towards me. I took this as a threat and fired one round about two feet to his right into the ground. Believe it or not this did not stop him and he came forward. I retreated as to give more room while we walked around my property. At this point I decide not to kill unless he draws a gun or knife, mainly because he was 5,6 170lbs and I am 6’3 250lbs. He was not much of a threat unless he had a weapon, which I did not think he had. I did fire one more round to keep him honest.

After walking and talking for ten minutes the sirens could be heard and he made a run for it, over my neighbors fence as the police pulled up. I knew he would try to make it out to the main road through the property. By now there were at least four squad cars and HPD helicopter in the chase and about ten more minutes go by here come three cars in which one contains the illegal.

The police questioned me then asked why I did not just shoot him, I had a legal right. Well I might have had a right according to the Texas penal code for using deadly force at night on a criminal trespassing, but did I have the moral right. Could I sleep well with killing a person who was really no threat?

I have realized with the invasion from Mexico, times have changed, living in the heart of Spring Branch ( AKA little Mexico) It was time to arm up. Now my wife and I will carry, but having a seven-year-old boy who is autistic we will have to be very careful about him not seeing our weapons. We each have touch-activated safes but find it may be much harder to conceal from him than from the general public. Now the wait is on!

When I have time I will tell ya’ll about my gunfight on Jensen drive, all fifteen rounds
