New Gun Store in Katy

Post by Dan20703 »

Looks like an AJC Sports store is opening this weekend in Katy. I may have to pay them a visit for at least a free hot dog. Anyone ever have any experience with them?

I'll get my brother that lives in Katy to do a recon before I make the drive.

I've had good experiences with their Clute store.

Holy Holstein! If their Katy store has prices like their tables at gun shows, it would be another nail in the coffin for Houston area gun shows.

I heard this on the radio. Between AJC and Tactical Firearms opening a new, larger location, I'm glad that Katy is getting some new / bigger gun shops!!!

I went by this morning. Very nice shop with a big selection, but I wasn't happy with the price they quoted me so I walked.

I am looking for a Kahr CW9. Buds has it for $371 with free shipping. AJC's website has it for $395. I figured I didn't mind paying a little more to support a local shop. When I got there the price was $425 and they would not honor the website pricing. So basically I could spend $371 and pay my $10 FFL fee or buy it at AJC for $425 + tax = $460.

I was surprised they would let a sale walk out the door that easily.

I made a visit around 11am. The place was an absolute zoo... but I couldn't be happier because everyone was there for guns! It took me 10 minutes to find parking space.

Everyone seemed busy, but friendly... and selections seemed fairly big. However, as another poster said previously, their prices were pretty high.

They probably had over 1000+ ammo cans(several pallets), and I offered to buy a decent quantity if they were willing to do a bulk discount. 10% was all they would budge, so I left empty handed as well.

I wonder how many 50 cal ammo cans they'll sell at $19.99 each.

I live about 2 miles from this new range/store. They have a beautiful facility and a large selection of guns. (even had a Kel Tec SU2000 9mm glock mag). I didn't check any prices but there were 3 guys filling out FFL transfer forms, so they are selling. I asked if they were going to let outside CHL instructors use the range and they said we could use the range and also use one of their classrooms. I didn't inquire on the rental fee for the classroom.

Guys, I think we're confusing two different facilities here. Interestingly, they are less than a mile from each other, and coincidentally, each had a grand opening today.

But seems to me they are two completely different companies:

AJC Gunshop
20235 Katy Freeway #D
Katy, TX 77450
(281) 398-4867
http://www.ajcgunshop.com/

Tactical Firearms
1200 S Mason Rd
Katy, TX 77450
(281) 693-4867
http://www.tacticalfirearms.us/

Though I've been known before to be wrong. That was on a Tuesday...

Skiprr is entirely correct. They are two separate gun stores. Tactical Firearms had a little strip center store on South Mason that closed last week and they re-opened their new location this past Saturday. The new location was what I was talking about that is very nice and will have 25 shooting lanes when built out. AJC guns does have a new location on I-10 between Fry and Mason. It appears to be only a retail gun business. (I guess that is why Tactical Firearms would not honor the AJC web price on a Kahr handgun)
