It does...And if I recall correctly we have had a legal expert testify to that effect in this forum...Just recently...Rex B wrote:Gun-sniffing dogs?
You know, I'd think an unloaded handgun locked in a car trunk would fall outside of a 30.06 posting. Surely a rifle would.

bait-breath
And I applaud your correct use of the word 'bated'.
I wish I had a dime for every time I've seen someon write "baited breath".

You really get lured in by that one, huh? Hook, line, and sinker?Rex B wrote:And I applaud your correct use of the word 'bated'.

WHOA!!!!! hold on there.
Judging from the website address given and the name of the Texas Youth Commission, this would appear to be a governmental entity. Please correct me if I am wrong. The following comments are based on the premise that it IS a governmental entity.
If it IS a governmental entity, then they can post 30.06 till the cows come home and and it DOES NOT APPLY! As you may recall, the last legislative session changed 30.06 by adding section "e" which reads, in part, " it is an exception to the application of this secton..." that the property was owned or leased by a governmental entity.
Now they can prohibit possession as a condition of employment and they can fire your if you violate there rules but they cannot prosecute you per 30.06 whether it is posted or not. If TYC is NOT a governmental entity, they can do both. I am not a lawyer, just a CHL instructor...and first time poster on this forum. Glad to be here.

You're incorrect here, because there are still governmental properties that are off-limits. One example is the secure area of a prison, which is what we're talking about here ("TYC" being a euphemism for "juvenile prison"). Another example is a "school", which is what TYC attempts to address with their prohibition on carry in buildings where "education" takes place. If it IS a governmental entity, then they can post 30.06 till the cows come home and and it DOES NOT APPLY!
That's exactly the concern of the original poster, who is an employee of TYC. PC 30.06 doesn't apply, but that doesn't help if he loses his job.Now they can prohibit possession as a condition of employment and they can fire your if you violate there rules but they cannot prosecute you per 30.06 whether it is posted or not.
Glad to have you here!I am not a lawyer, just a CHL instructor...and first time poster on this forum. Glad to be here.
I can see you've got a strong interest in the law. You're going to be a good asset here, so please stick around. I wasn't trying to bust your chops on your first post, just keep the discussion in line for the very specific circumstance under discussion.
Oh, and do let us get to know you better by posting an introduction:
