Lewisville Gun Show November 5-6, 2011. + other sites.

This Saturday and Sunday the Lewisville Gun Show is being held. This seems to be a new venue for a gun show,
and the link states that there will be 450 tables.

IIRC from a quick radio ad I heard on Dallas' 570 AM radio, the site is near the corner of I-35E and State Highway 121,
near Vista Ridge Mall, and behind the Saltgrass Steakhouse restaurant.

The above link also contains the schedules for other gun shows later in the year in Mesquite, San Antonio, Fort Worth,
and Houston.

Happy shopping, shootists.

SIA
N. Texas LTC's hold 3 breakfasts each month. All are 800 AM. OC is fine.
2nd Saturdays: Rudy's BBQ, N. Dallas Pkwy, N.bound, N. of Main St., Frisco.
3rd Saturdays: Golden Corral, 465 E. I-20, Collins St exit, Arlington.
4th Saturdays: Sunny St. Cafe, off I-20, Exit 415, Mikus Rd, Willow Park.

Opening weekend of deer season is probably not gonna enhance attendance at this first one! But, I got an invitation this afternoon to share a table with a vendor friend, so gonna set up DCSA banner in the morning and stick around a least a while to chit chat with hopefully some local pistol people. Gonna have another friend's Model 10 Police Special for sale as well as a .25 Baby Browning.

A quick update while home for lunch. This first Lewisville show has lots of traffic - good for vendors, but semi-crowded at times for fondlers. ;-) Only one or two of the big handgun vendors (SAW) but pricing is quite competitive.

Looking at the link's map, it appears that the gun show is very close to the Lewisville Academy Sports.

Is it being held in the former Best Buy building? (Best Buy is now located on the other side of I-35E).

Yep, in the old Best Buy store, about 200 yards south of Academy. About 100 yards east of Saltgrass. They asked vendors to park around back, where yesterday some of us needed to park behind Garden Ridge. Even then, it was a short walk compared to what is typical at Market Hall or Will Rogers.

The interior was very wll lit. Restrooms are small, but were adequate, at least for stand-up business. I have stood in line much longer at other shows.

Mostly local people attending. I spoke with at least 3 who said it was their first gun show ever.

Michelle (the promoter) told me they are contracted for the facility for all of the 2012 dates showing on their web site. After the Thanksgiving show at Market Hall, I am seriously considering giving up the table we have had there for years in favor of the demographics of this one.

I went and couldn't believe how many people were there. It was a good show that needs a few bugs worked out.The map they had on the internet was the worst thing I ever saw.I think they did a great job for their first show.

I would have liked to have gone today, but couldn't find the time.

Was this show posted with a 30.06 sign or did they prohibit CHLs from carrying in any other way?
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.

That is a good question. I was thinking of going to the Fort Worth show next weekend. Is it posted?

Yes, it is properly 30.06 posted. And I was favorably impressed with other safety measures implemented both days.

Funny how things turn out. I was enthused about going to this show since it's right down
the street from me. But working Saturday + Sunday activities = no gun fondling for me!! I never made it.

stroo: You helped the economy nicely. Were you aware of this show before this thread appeared?

greybeard: If you believe that the demographics of the Lewisville attendees are better than Market Hall
(downtown Dallas venue), I guess you saw that the Lewisville show had high attendance + people that would
spend some money.

Yep, attendance was good Saturday anyway. Sunday morning was a little slow but it was beginning to get busy again Sunday when I had to leave around 12:30 to do a class. We reserved a table very close to the center of the building for the next one there (Feb. 4 and 5).

I heard a radio ad for it on Friday, then looked it up on the web.
Also saw a billboard on 121 on Friday.

Yep, me too... My wife was up at Garden Ridge when she called about the Gun Sign show. So, we later travelled the 5 minutes to the show. Fairly crowded, but also worthwhile as I picked up a Colt 1911 SS for a pretty good cash discounted price. OK - so I know what I'm getting for Christmas...
