The Constitution preserves the advantage of being armed which Americans possess over the people of almost every other nation where the governments are afraid to trust the people with arms. James Madison

Well, they are not going to appeal the ruling because they obviously have figured out a way to end-run the system and still ban guns. They are just going to need time to get their new policies in place.
Chancellor George Pernsteiner says the system still has authority to control its property and facilities and can make and enforce internal policies and contracts that ban guns from classrooms, dormitories and sports stadiums. ... the system is working on policies ...
In the meantime, ....students and faculty with permits can carry concealed guns into classrooms and other buildings where contracts are not yet in place.

Isn't that peachy? Now all one has to do as an Oregonian-student is check each room you enter for an active contract to see if you are liable for carrying or not...Jumping Frog wrote:Well, they are not going to appeal the ruling because they obviously have figured out a way to end-run the system and still ban guns. What happens if one refuses to sign the contract on ethical grounds?

I suppose that they would try to make it a condition of admission/employment. Thus, the law may permit it, but you're still jacked if you want to attend school there or teach/work there. So you might refuse to sign it, but you'll have to enroll or work elsewhere.MeMelYup wrote:What happens if one refuses to sign the contract on ethical grounds?
