Processing online payments

Post by Bill »

Now after 31 days waiting to receive my packet, after taking the class I am stuck. I called and was told it was mailed 7 days ago. They use bulk mail which I would not mind paying 142.50 for 1st class. Of course this does not answer the reason why they took my 140.00 and sat on it for 30 days. I would think they could hire a third party to facilitate this much, much faster.
I made the suggestion an option to pay by internet using credit card but use the application in my class to send in. This would remove extra work and cost for them. Then when my packet arrives they look on the computer and they can see I have paid. It so easy it’s scary

You can use everything in the packet you received in class except for the page in the DPS sent packet that serves are your application.

that's why I tell people NOT to use the online system for CHL

*if* you get someone to answer the phone in Austin, he/she will probably have no idea when your packet was mailed (and in your case there is no way they mailed it 7 days ago) and just say whatever to get you off the phone

I did speak to one good person at DPS who told me the truth - the packets are done in bulk mailing once a month

She also said DO NOT, under any circumstances, pay online then use a non-online packet (except as one poster mentioned using the finger print thingys, etc)

Bill,
I had done an online app on January 9th...finally received packet the 23rd. It'll get there. They did tell me over the phone when it was mailed. It just took extra time b/c of the ice storm.
Cheers!

Well now its 33 days and still no packet. I called again to double check and they said it was mailed Jan 19th. As I posted earlier it would be much faster to just pay online, not receive a packet. Then when you send in your class packet all they have to do is look and see that you have paid

I am going to Austin friday to see Perry and get this straightened out. Not really, but I am going there for my daughters state high school swim meet A-N-D if my packet arrives I will deliver it in person.

my wife is now a week ahead of me, I can count on her teasing as well

Mine took ten days to get here...but not all of the delay is due to DPS. The postal service is a big part of the problem.

When I returned my packet to DPS in Austin it took 5 days from the main post office in Ft. Worth. Lessee...about 200 miles to Austin...5 days...that's about 40 miles per day by my computation. Dang, I could have walked to Austin faster!

Oh BTW, my Florida CHL packet arrived in three days from Jacksonville.

Go figure.

Still no packet, but I do get to visit DPS tomorrow and the ladie I called said she could reprint the application and swap out for the one in my packet. Finally no more waiting to wait. Now if somehow I could make up the lost two week my wife has on me

visited DPS Austin and got my packet worked out except for one problem, I did not have my certificate number with me but Jackie the nice lady at the counter gave me her direct number. I called her today and she put the number on the form, she also checked everthing while I was there, she went out of her way making sure I was ready. She was very pleasant person for we visited for fifteen minutes. She offered to check over my wifes as well.
