Texas CHL Forum at gun shows

Post by bevans »

I read where the forum had a table at the TSRA show and was wondering does the forum plan to do anything at any of the houston shows. I dont know what all that entails but this forum has been a wonderful help when I was waiting and Charles and everybody helped me decide to go ahead and try to get my Chl after so many others told me that there was no way that I would get one.I just feel that there are alot of great people on this forum and we should stick together, just a thought and if I am out of place or this has been brought up before I am sorry.

I would imagine that there would be a cost involved in having a booth at one of these shows. I'm really not sure how this works.

The NRA & TSRA are a bargain; they're much cheaper than the cold, dead hands experience.

My thought was at least its a way to put faces to names on forum. I also know they have a forum day at Psc. I plan on getting to one of these as soon as time permits but i can always steal 2 or 3 hours to go to a gun show whether I buy anything or not.

Not sure about other shows but I can Give aprox. cost of the TSRA show.
Table-$50.00---Next year we will have a booth--$150.00
Banner-$95.00
Misc.-printed material, plastic table skirt and top, pvc to hold banner--$40.00

Of course after the first show, the banner and most of the misc. cost would be eliminated so all you have is table/booth cost and any printing material.

Also, i have the banner already I could ship to someone as long as its back to me by the next TSRA show.

Another thing to look at is getting people to work the table. Its very hard on one or two people. I have been fortunate that people have come from all over the state for the meetings and helped work the show. But if you have a local only show that could cut down your workforce. Just a Thought

I am certifying guns for a .22 rimfire match next Sat morning. I would like to have a man in our church there just to handle a thousand & get a good education. We talked about it Sunday & I told him I would find out when the next Houston show was. May be a possibility to go & meet for a visit but would take a lot more planning to do a table.

$50 to $60 per 8' table is pretty typical for gun shows in DFW area. And what some folks (such as Garland Public Shooting range) do for "exposure" is simply set up an unmanned display with literature available. It is, however, sometimes more appealing to have a friendly face or two present to answer specific questions.

And, speaking of costs, methinks that RP likely footed the bulk of that for the recent TSRA table - I know he popped for at least the $150 booth space (for more room to visit) for next year.

As mentioned yesterday RP, I'm quite willing to get a little $ your way for reimbursement - and I bet many others here are too. PM me with it or post your snail mail addy (got a post office box?) here and I bet ya see some "fun money" replacement shortly.

I could help with manning a table at a Houston show and if you need any
kind of metal frame work done for it I also can weld up something for it.
Just draw me up something with dimensions and I'll see what I can do.

Thanks for the offer to help. There have been a few others that also have PM'd me and offer some monetary reimbersment. This is a true testament as to the type of folks we have on this forum.

However, I have already covered us through next year so what I would rather you kind folks would do is use this money to help someone les fortunate with a class, getting there license, or taking someone to the range to teach them to shoot. Or even donate it to the TSRA or NRA.

Again, thanks for the offers. You guys and gals are great. SEE YOU NEXT YEAR.

RP- I will do just that. Thanks for your support at the TSRA show again this year...the table has been great fun and I know it will only get better. I had a great time!

I'd be more than willing to sit at a booth at a DFDub show.
