I usually use a snap cap, but since I am trying to get the parts to polish themselves basically, is there any need to even have the slide on for this? Any advantage? Advantage of having slide OFF is of course a great weight difference.
First, find a new smith. Second, 10,000 times will more likely wear stuff out more than polish it up. Springs dont last forever so add the cost of several new springs in that "break in".
