The above link is to page 1 of Academy's ad for the period of December 18-24, 2011.
The sale gun on this page is a Taurus M640, .40, 11 + 1, DA, $299.99 on sale, down from $459.99.
I went to the Taurus site to research this gun, but did not find it. The pic looks pretty much like a PT140.
If someone knows about this gun, please post a link on this thread, so we can see more specifics.
It's a pretty good price for 11 + 1 of .40 on tap.
Starting at the above link, page ahead to page 3 to find the rest of the handguns for sale this week.
FYI - These pages were generated after I input zipcode 75067 (Lewisville, Denton County, Texas).
I can assume that the same guns are available Texas-wide, but YMMV.

Academy most likely has these specially ordered for them with a special model designation. Academy is big enough to demand price cuts and special models and deals from suppliers and manufacturers. They are the WalMart of sporting goods.

Here's an update on the Taurus M640 on page 1 of this week's Academy sales circular:
I went to Academy Lewisville this AM to look this over and see what I could find out from the staff. Mixed results.
The pistol is described in the ad as a Taurus "M640". The gun's slide is engraved "PT640".
The solid black PT640 ($299.99 on sale) was parked on the shelf right next to a Taurus PT140 ($399.99 in bi-tone).
The PT640 appeared to be a clone of the PT140 in most regards. The only difference that I noted was that the
PT640 was missing a line or two with the company name on top of the grip on the right side.
It still says "Taurus Intl" on the ejector/slide area.
The clerk was tied up in a long process of approving the sale of a Beretta Nano to a woman in her 20's. She had
bought guns before, but had goofed up some of the data on her app.
When the clerk finally got to me, I asked him if the PT640 was a run of PT140's for Academy sale only.
He didn't know, plus he wasn't familiar with the original Taurus PT140.
He checked the specs for the PT640 and told me that it was a "12 + 1" in .40.
The ad states that it's an "11 + 1" in .40.

The above link is to the Taurus website, detailing a PT140. That source states that the capacity is 10 + 1.
If anyone buys one of these, please comment on this thread.

I can tell you than the stainless .380 version in the 600 series is a fine weapon, well built, and so far very reliable. A bit picky about what it feeds, but tolerable.

Every search I've done points to Academy. No other vendors with this model. I saw one site that mentioned it was the Millenium P140. I'm no Taurus expert so some here may know what that translates in features. The P140 is a 10+1 in .40 S&W according to specs. I found this: A guy in Arkansas that purchased one.

I ran into this with the 609B I got a couple years ago on Black Friday.
This pistol is a Brazil market.
