Yep, unfortunately, possibly one of these days ...
Story on Dallas news a day or three ago that some residents of University Park oppose locating Bush II Presidential Library at SMU, fearing it could make their neighborhood a primary target ... The Wife sez, no worry tho, Jack Bauer will be on it.

I heard a lecture on Terrorists in the U.S. by an Army guy from Anniston a couple of years ago. I think most folks would be surprised at the number of known terrorist groups that are active within, say 100 miles of where you are now. He talked about domestic, as well as foreign factions that are here.papabear wrote: It will happen.
The question is when & where first.
Technically....theologically speaking....every mosque.....Carrollton has two or three new ones that I know of.....and all conveniently located within yards of a large school or water processing/supply location.fm2 wrote:papabear wrote: I think most folks would be surprised at the number of known terrorist groups that are active within, say 100 miles of where you are now. America is too busy trying to buy the latest Super Gamer 5000 to worry about some religion that believes join us or die.

Like TXI asked "What do we do about it?" I believe that shutting down Boston because of some light brites is sign that the terrorist are winning. After all the idea of terrorism is not to kill as many of us infidels as possible but to scare and terrorise us.stevie_d_64 wrote:Photoman wrote:You nailed it!!!fm2 wrote:Technically....theologically speaking....every mosque.....Carrollton has two or three new ones that I know of.....and all conveniently located within yards of a large school or water processing/supply location.papabear wrote: I think most folks would be surprised at the number of known terrorist groups that are active within, say 100 miles of where you are now. We have Mosques popping up all over the place? I don't like it, and I'm sure most of us don't. What is the alternative? Gather them up and bring them all to central camps. Maybe there we can find some sort of Final Solution.
I hate giving the goverment credit, but it looks to me that somehow they have done a pretty decent job. While lots of folks try to undermine the methods. we have been pretty effective destroying the bad guys in the Middle East. Our inteligence community has uncovered dozens of plots that we know of, most like likely multitudes more that we don't. Its been over 5 years and they have not been able to place an attack. It is not because they lack the will or desire.
I do believe that we need to be doing the same types of things we have been doing, but perhaps more and maybe better.
Believe it or not there has been some tightening at the borders, but it needs a whole lot more work
We need to allow the people in the schools to arm themselves. but we need to remember and be slow to further restrict freedoms. Every time we show fear or restrict freedom we give the terrorist another victory.
We need to continue killing bad guys in the Middle East. Killing them there is better than having the battle over here.

Not much we as individuals can do about it...Its in the nature within our community to be people willing to sacrifice and be stand up citizens and patriots...And we will do what we feel is necessary if the need arises...I have no doubt about that...Liberty wrote:Like TXI asked "What do we do about it?"
You are correct...Thats the concept...But look at the next thing you said...I believe that shutting down Boston because of some light brites is sign that the terrorist are winning.
I have a dissagreement there...They will not ever stop now...We are actively engaging the threat around the world...Before they thought their actions could bring about some political change...Now that we are having a problem with their actions...After all the idea of terrorism is not to kill as many of us infidels as possible but to scare and terrorise us.
They've very sucessfully turned the "war" into a religious issue, and that we have not quite made the trip in engaging it as such...
Conventional and even Special Ops type warfare is not the way to go about this...there is another way to do this, but our country and a few others that are with us in this fight have not come to grips with what we really need to do about it...
Absolutely...Killing them there is better than having the battle over here.

Make no mistake, the radical Islamist want you DEAD, not scared. Being scared is only a a benefit for them. Scared people are usually less determined than MAD people.
I agree with Stevie on one point, this is not a fight like any other we have been engaged in. Welcome to how much the the rest of the world has been living.
Even a large scale nuclear assault by us would not stop these terrorists.
We bombed Japan, they got the message. You nuke radical Islamist terrorists, and they think they are all martyrs earning 70 virgins, and it inflames the rest to kill more of us. We will be fighting this war after we are all gone.

Quotes from the author's web site (link at end of article):
A fallacy many people believe: "The war on terrorism can be won"
Terrorism has been around for hundreds of years and has now made its way into America. Neither terrorism nor terrorists who commit these acts will ever leave our lives. The best we can do is try to prevent them from being an everyday occurence in America. Are we prepared? No.
and
Counter-terrorism Tip of The Day: There are Islamic Fascists "Sleeper cells" in the U.S. Many are here illegally and some legally. Provide tips to Law Enforcement on suspicious activity. Contact your Congressional Leader and Demand Illegal Immigrants are Removed Immediately from the U.S. Otherwise we will soon experience suicide bombers and other
terrorist acts. "Dave"
Coincidently, in putzing around his web site yesterday, it appears he may live in Denton and work in Dallas ...
