This is an update from Grapevine PD on the shootings. The guns were a black 9MM Glock and a black .40 Smith & Wesson.
Not only did crazy Santa kill all the relatives in the house, he apparently planted one of his own guns in one of the
dead relative's hands.
The story said that the gun was "registered" by the shooter. Since Texas doesn't have gun registration.....?

Re: Grapevine Shooting
You hear that in almost every Hollywood movie involving firearms, too. "The gun was registered to..." or "It was an unregistered gun...". MOST states do NOT have firearms registration, in any form or fashion. There is no FEDERAL firearms registration except for special stuff like NFA weapons such as full auto or short-barrel. IF the firearm was registered in one of the handful of states that have that, they should have said that...otherwise they IMPLY something that simply isn't true...to what purpose is what it leaves you to ask.surprise_i'm_armed wrote:http://www.myfoxdfw.com/dpp/news/Affida ... cre-122811

...info coming through LEOs and through the press and through other media is often tweaked at every level for maximum shock value...so wrong stuff can come from any of those levels...and then there's the spin at each level to "support" the agenda of the deliverer...you want a good egg, hold yer hand under the chicken!!! the field of journalism has suffered major pollution in the last 40 years...and MOST of the citizenry just OOH and AHH because they don't even spot the errors/misinformation/lies...
Re: Grapevine Shooting
Every new (factory new in box) gun that is sold via a dealer or FFL requires paperwork that includes the name/address/etc of the buyer.
Any secondary sale that goes through an FFL/Dealer will similarly have paperwork identifying the buyer.
That paperwork is traceable to the buyer.
This, I assume, is the newspaper definition of "registered".

...maybe the cops have had time to go through where he was living and find receipts...maybe ATF traced the gun already to where he used to live and it was registered there...or maybe the reporter just thought it sounded nice...any of the three is possible...

What scares the bejabbers out of me is learning that the guns were black. I'd be a lot less concerned if they were purple or yellow or something. Black just ain't good, you know what I mean?
Re: Grapevine Shooting
Yeah, like the black ones are somehow more deadly or that only the bad guys have black guns.Oldgringo wrote:What scares the bejabbers out of me is learning that the guns were black. I'd be a lot less concerned if they were purple or yellow or something. Black just ain't good, you know what I mean?
I am not and have never been a LEO. My avatar is in honor of my friend, Dallas Police Sargent Michael Smith, who was murdered along with four other officers in Dallas on 7.7.2016.
