Conroe Shooting Video

Post by dihappy »

As Sgt. James Keleman rests at home following surgery, Conroe Police today released the video of the incident.

Saturday afternoon Sgt. James Keleman responded to the Discount Bakery in the #00 block of North Loop 336. As he pulls in the driveway he sees the man with the gun. Several times he tells him to put the gun down. “Put the gun down and we will talk,” Kelleman told the gunman.

I've seen videos of police encounters like this, but never before at a place I used to live (in the neighborhood on the other side of the fire station which is right next door to the bakery, the blinking lights before he turned into the parking lot are for that fire station). It really does make you believe that crime happens everywhere.

"Drop the weapon, or I'll say drop the weapon again!"

Not a very effective approach for dealing with armed criminals IMO. Dangerous for the LEO's, and dangerous for any citizen near the crazy armed individual. NOBODY should have to be shot, or shot at, by a lunatic before they are eliminated.

His concern was for what was in the store behind the BG. You cannot see in the store due to the dark windows. You can hear him or another officer call for anybody to notify the people in the store to get away from the windows. That is some damn good training and having your wits about you. Very good, no, great work officer. Serve and protect everybody.

Would have rather seen him move to the rear of his vehicle for better overall body concealment, but hey the officer did a fantastic job. He paid with his eye, one BG down and no innocents hurt.

The officer reassuring him at his side did an excellent job of keeping him calm and even added a little one liner in there to break up the seriousness of the situation. :thumbs2:

Good job to all involved and I hope that he makes as full a recovery as possible.

I thought he did a great job in keeping the perp's attention focused on himself which allowed the other officers the time to flank the perp. The other officers obviously had the angle for a safer shot.
