Replace the LCP with PF-9 Ooops?

Ok, we've been talking about caliber consolidation in another thread and I mentioned the posibility of this change.

Well, sold the LCP and .380 ammo. Went to my local gun pusher...I mean dealer...same thing ain't it? Anyways, gave me a good enough deal on a new PF9 and I took it to the house for a quick clean and lube and then on to the range. She shot really well. AS long as I didn't anticipate the muzzle flip or snap the trigger it was VERY accurate. NO FTF and No FTE or anything.....except....she won't lock on empty. I could sware it did in the gun shop. Many times. Not now. With the empty mag in you can cycle the slide and feel it trying to lock but fall off. If you push up on the bottom of the mag she'll lock open when cycled manually, however if you let off on the pressure the slide will slam home. Well crap. I've bought a pretty impressive ammount of firearms this past year without a single hitch. Now 2012, first one out of the box, and here we go.

I also took another look at the LC9, and it is heavier, I still hate the safety, and it has a mag safety. In other words, no mag, no bang. I am sure I could disable that, but just more work.

So, I went with the PF9 and here it went and bit me in the buttocks. No bigger we'll get it figured out.

TAM , I looked at the Kahr, and liked it too. Much heavier, decent size, pero mucho mas dinero. When I get rich like you, I'll have one. LOL

Bummer about the PF9 issue. Perhaps make certain that the little leg that is attached to the slide release lever that contacts the magazine follower is intact and not damaged. My P-11 has broken in that spot twice so far. The good news is that if you call KT and explain the issue, they will help you out ASAP. Each time I had to replace the slide stop lever, they sent the parts to me free of charge and I had them inside of a week. They were also very personable and easy to talk to, and apologized for the problems. It turns out a run of bad parts was to blame with my issue, according to them.

Perhaps also check the magazine and follower and make sure there arent any blockages that might be causing the problem (excess plastic from molding, etc). Good luck!

I am finally at the love stage with my LCP. It took quite a bit of practice but I have it down and it is a pleasure to shoot. Best thing about the LCP is when I am at the ATM, gas pump or happen to be in the wrong Stop-N=Rob I can wrap my hand around it in my pocket and have it out in less than a second. It was, in my opinion, a great buy.

CEO of Evil, I have looked it over and it appears that the inside of the slide stop lever where it contacts the follower may be bent or may have even broken a piece off . It is pointed, and would think it would be square so I am sure something is wrong there. Easy fix, but still a let down. I had a P3AT for a long time that never had an issue.

Stroguy...I understand what you are saying about the LCP. I liked mine also, and shot it very well. I used to even lob shots out to 50+ yards just for kicks out at the range. My main reason for ditching it was to go with a little more uumphh, and consolidate calibers. The PF9 is a little bigger so we'll see how it goes, I may end up with another LCP, but if I do it will the "Zombie Killer". It's just too cool.

For sure I understand. My LCP is a pocket backup to my 442 or 1911. But now I have an Ultra II in the mail. Guess I'll have to explain to my LCP it's no big deal and that I still love her.

It's bad I know. I'm in the same boat. Picked up the Stainless Ultra II a couple weeks ago and the poor little LCP ran screaming. I will say this PF9 a little tighter for pocket carry than the LCP, however at Bad Guy distance, I think it is more accurate, or maybe just easier to be accurate for me. LOL I miss the LCP though.

Anxious for the Stainless model DB9 Compensated barrel to come out (should be early this year) ... for pocket BUG #2 (BUG #1 is a P11 with 12 round mag)

Wait, I guess that would make BUG #3 ... I have a Stainless PT709 I got for pocket carry because of thumb safety, but it weighs more than the PF9 and has less capacity than PT11 ...

I need coffee...

I still might collect a PM9 with thumb safety, that's a tiny machine, downright attractive but heavier and not as flat as DB9 compensated.

I wish I'd have liked the second-hand CW40 I had, but lemons occur everywhere I guess, I may try Kahr again.

You must be thinking of some other TAM, as I am down the price of a new CW45 and am no longer rich.

Well, those are some nice prices to dream about, however down here in the Reality Bend, I mean Coastal Bend, can't even get close to those prices. I know I paid too much, but even figuring Bud's prices and transfer etc. I'm not too far off.Cool thing is I got it at the shop that books some students for me each class, so when this one acted up yesterday, I took it in today and we figured out it was a bad magazine. They handed me a new one and out the door I went.

Now that I have done the switch, I am thinking there really is a slot for the LCP. Maybe after a few times carrying this PF9 I will forget about it.

I see why you like the Kahrs, very nice. Maybe I can find one at the next gun show at a good price. I should have waited, but we don't have a big show down here for another month or two. I tend to want things NOW.LOL
