But, I was sure it was a fraud the first time I read it. One way you can usually tell a fraud is that the terminology used is not correct. Look for bad spelling or bad grammar or someone using the wrong terms. In Texas, we do not have the Chief of Police of the County in most cases. Also, it refers to San Antonio, not Bexar County. While the wrong terminology is not a sure thing, I assumed it was not written by anyone familiar with the US, especially not Texas. I might be wrong, but it gave me a working hypothesis to use.
...the original post also mentioned wheels...if bad spelling or bad grammar or someone using the wrong terms (...or improper punctuation...)is an evidence of fraud...you've just convicted about half of us here...someone in Denver wouldn't know our LEO titles, like someone from Wyoming wouldn't know what a parish was in LA...and it "refers to San Antonio" because the event they're referring to HAPPENED in San Antonio...elementary, my dear Watson...
...searching brought up two people at two different forums who personally knew someone who'd had it happened to them...neither the HGCA who put out the warning NOR the Gunsite instructor who verified it had any motive but to help protect the shooting community...the lady pbwalker dug up seemed to be taking a ride on it for business reasons...so it wasn't a fraud, though it might have been exaggerated...I haven't got time to research theft reports from SAPD during that time frame...maybe someone else wants to...those who want to can pick the carcass...it's dead now...
