lcr and sp 101 fail

picked up a beat up mdl 49 j-frame for cheep. I looked a used sp 101 and found it wont fit in my pocket and so the ungly S&W won the battle. I really like the little thing but sadly It wil be gone in the comming weeks. My mom wants its.. and what mom wants mom gets .

I own a Smith and Wesson Model 49 Bodyguard and I believe it to be a fantastic weapon for duties of concealed carry and BUG. Just because it ain't beautiful in a classic sense doesn't mean its without charm. I got mine, a 1973 model, in almost new condition a couple of years ago...and the bluing on it is really nice. I've got three sets of grips for it: original "splinters", modern S&W black rubber, and some oversize Pachmayr grips that cover the backstrap. I've gotten to where I can (usually) keep them all in about 4 inches at about 20 ft, double action...single action reduces the groups by about an inch. Two bits of trivia about the Bodyguard: it was the type of pistol that the South Vietnamese officer, General Nguyen Ngoc Loan, used to shoot a Viet Cong terrorist, Bay Lop, in the head during Tet '68, immortalized in the famous photo by Eddie Adams...Adams later apologized to Nguyen because he felt he had done an injustice since a lot of people thought of Gen. Nguyen as a "cold-blooded murderer" because they didn't realize the terrorist had killed several police families in Saigon that very day; also, it was the type of pistol carried by the character Rico Tubbs in the 1980's police show "Miami Vice". Can you tell I like my old-school Bodyguard?

Understand that...I "lost" a Pre-model 28 S&W Highway Patrolman that I picked up for a song and a dance the exact same way...seems once she discovered the 100-yard rams with that gun, it was as good as gone...

There are worse things than having your Mom swipe your guns though...
