Need a little safe advice!

I never quite understood why anyone would go cheap on a safe to protect thousands of dollars in firearms. 3500 dollars is not a lot to spend if your protecting 30K in weapons.

Right, but most folks only have about 3k in weapons. I'd say a "10% of the value of your guns" number is a good one, actually.

I would agree. There was a time when I hid my firearms all over the house. My thinking was that a bad guy would find one or two and leave thinking he got the whole stash. It sounds dumb to me now but made sense at the time...LOL.

Agree. With me it is more of a safety issue then a value. All my guns together are not worth $3,000. Not having a fancy 1911 or semi auto rifle or expensive shotgun definitely keeps the value down. My most expensive used firearm would probably get no more then 500 dollars and it is my Glock 20sf. I would love a FAL or M1A but I am just a average middle class guy and $1,000 or more on a firearm is not being smart with my money. Maybe when I am older but not at this point in my life. I live within my means and don't finance anything except my home!

But I do know what you mean 03Lightningrocks I know several 50 something men who have to much money and have so many guns and only a $800 safe. The only guy I know who has Fort Knox safes is a FFL and he has three 36 gun safes and also two smaller safes all in his home. I wouldn't be surprised if all of his firearms easily cost more then my house!
