La Grange and Fayette County

Mrs. Anygun and I are closing on our retirement home next week. We are purchasing a home and acreage outside the La Grange city limits off Hwy 159. It is a little piece of heaven complete with a spring fed pond stocked with crappie and bass.

We are not retiring just yet. We have a few more years since as with any home purchase, Mrs. Anygun thinks certan changes are required. I agree since she frowns on my big gun safe in the master's quarters. A gun room/shop addition and garage expansion are a necessity.

Can anyone give me any details on gun ranges, gunsmiths and the like in the area? We have not had much time to explore the area. The real estate agents were most helpful in the purchase but gave me the deer in the headlight look when I asked for information.

Any info will be appreciated.

Don't have any answers to your questions but of you need any help catching some of them crappie and bass just give me a call. I'll be happy to help!

I used to live in Muldoon and work in La Grange. As far as I know, the La Grange Gun Club is still operation, right up Hwy 77 out of town on the right. They have a pistol range with several bays, skeet range, and rifle range along with a small clubhouse. Fees were reasonable when I was there (and I was a member for a year before moving). It's run by good people, unless they've changed significantly.

Joining the Citizen's Police Academy will let you meet the local law enforcement and learn more about the city. Sounds hokey, but it's a lot of fun...

I know there WAS a gunsmith in town, but when I left his shop was struggling a little. He was right next to the Golden Chick fast food place.

I found the Fayette County Gun CLub which I believe is the one off 77 you are referring to. Thanks for the response. We will take a look at it the next time we are up that way.

We are really excited about this next part of our lives.

We were supposed to close on the house on Tuesday but the attorneys are not working fast enough on the title stuff.

How much acreage? If enough, you could create your own range similar to hickok45's on youtube. That's what we are doing at our place up near Llano.

Slightly less than 5 acres. Too many residences on neighboring properties. Would be nice but not in the cards.

We are now no longer homeless. Now we have to move stuff up there.
