Beretta AL391 Shotgun Question

I just got a new, unfired AL391 Urika Optima from my Dad. (Happy birthday to me!) Last night, I was checking it out (reading the manual, cleaning and oiling, removed the limiter plug, etc...) and I noticed something strange: Any autoloading shot gun I've ever had, all you have to do to unload the tube is cycle the action until the gun is empty. With this gun, when I cycle it, it will empty the chamber but not advance the next round. I have to press the "carrier stop button" each time to get the next round to advance. Is this normal for a Beretta AL391? I haven't fired it yet, so I don't know if it will behave differently when actually fired than when cycle by hand. Any advice from experienced Beretta shooters would be appreciated.

I just answered my own question... I read the manual again (more carefully) and found the correct procedure for unloading. You don't cycle each round through the gun. I also noticed that the carrier stop button releases when you pull the trigger. So, I guess I don't have anything to worry about. This is definitely a different gun than the the Mossberg 500's, and Remington 1100's and 870's that I'm used to. I can't wait to get out and bust some clays with this gun!

I would think that "eject only the chambered round" is a convenience feature...
For when you want to make the weapon safe for transport in/on your vehicle, without unloading everything.

As long as there's a way to fully unload also, I like that feature.

Congrats on the 391. It will be a great shotgun. I have been using one for competition for the last 10 years and have put well over 200,000 rounds through it. Sure, I've broken some parts here and there but they're easy to get and the gun is easy to work on. You will enjoy it. Looks like you have it figured out now. Holler if you ever have any problems or questions with it.
